YET.MY TOSHIBA 6 YEAR OLD MODEL WILL NOT EJECT TAPE NOR PLAY.I REMOVED IT BY HOLDING THE MACHINE ON IT'S SIDE.ANY IDEAS YOU XMAS EXPERTS OR DOES SANTA HAVE TO BUY ANOTHER? Even if it was, you would have zero chance of having it done by Xmas.A new video will cost you less than 50€ (if you can find one - I wouldn't buy one - the technology is 30 years old) or a new DVD recorder less than 200. However, if you are like me, you probably have a lot of videos lying about which you don't want to be unable to play so maybe think about a combination VCR and DVD player? You would need a combi VCR/DVD recorder to do what you ask and I don't know if they exist - I will look. I am told that it is perfectly simple to connect a VHS player to a DVD recorder and record, but I've never managed it - due to the complexities (massive over-) of Sony DVD recorders. I might get one for work, as we have literally hundreds of VHS tapes, and as we move towards all Smart-board work they are not very useful. SC Posted December 17, 2006 Share Posted December 17, 2006 If you have a modern French TV that works with both PAL and SECAM formats, you can watch UK recorded tapes played on either a French PAL/SECAM VCR or a UK PAL only VCR.
