confused of chalus Posted October 21, 2010 Share Posted October 21, 2010 Can anyone help solve our problem? We have a three year old Amilo laptop that works fine except that it has lost its sound. It cant be the speakers as we get sound fine through Skype, its just that it runs silent the rest of the time. I'd really like to be able to listen to BBC radio on it. The operating system is Windows Vista (had to look in wikipedia to find out what an operating system is. That's the level of ignorance you are dealing with). The sound mixer is up to maximum. Mr Coeur de Lion Posted October 23, 2010 Share Posted October 23, 2010 Go to control panel and then double click on the sounds icon.Have a fiddle there.When you say you have no other sounds, have you tried playing music or a video on your computer? You may have inadvertently disabled the speakers by accidentally pressing a sequence or combination of keys. Check your manual, if you have one. But son came over loud and clear from Hong Kong on Skype this afternoon! Control panel claims we are very loud!No, didn't get a manual with the laptop, will get OH to investigate the function keys with the online manual, which we never printed out!
