Darty versus Leclerc for HP laptop

Recommended Posts

Darty sells a laptop HP G7-1045sf and Leclerc HP G7-1045ef for the same price. HP site shows specs for both machines to be identical as far as I can see. Only difference is HP has a different Ref number in addition to the model number for each machine. So anyone know what is the difference between them and any comments about HP laptops welcome........JR

There is quite a lot of rebadging and boxing in France so that items do not actually compete with each other. Thus, my recent SatNav was one number on the box, a number which existed only in France, and another number on the piece of kit, which was international and sold everywhere.

This may account for what has happened in your case.

Found via Google on 'Comment ça marche' - le ef est avec un écran led, l'autre (le sf) avec un écran normal (brightview).

So EF has an LED backlit screen, while SF is 'normal'- LCD ?

LED is supposed to be better - more eco-friendly and runs cooler, like TVs.

It seems to be a good choice.

Your word is my command :

Not your model, though.

Brightview will just be their brand name for the display.

If they're both LED, then you can't lose.... and I don't know any other ef/sf distinctions.

Looks like Wooly was right !

En général, EF et SF sont les localisations du modèles, même machine,

autre région.  Je ne sais pas ce qu'elles signifient exactement par

contre

Found on an HP forum :

So evidently no difference, if the LED v LCD screen is a red herring.....

Ok thanks folks and I think the better half wants to buy one. The difference between LCD and LED seems to be only the different types of back lighting for LCD displays as shown here:

http://www.buzzle.com/articles/led-vs-lcd-monitor.html

Anyway thanks to all and now on to the next problem, cheers.............JR
