Has anyone else experienced this? We bought a new car last year. The dealer said we should come and get the immatriculation no etched on the glass. Never bothered - it's pointless if the car doesn't keep the same number all its life and they were only going to etch the rear windw which I understand is the easiest to break and replace anyway. We have now received a demand for €90 for the next 12 months! We have no actual docymentary evidence of having entered into a contract. This is basically a scam. They will pay out a certain amount if the car is stolen and not retreived but then so will the normal insurance and they certainly will not BOTH pay out. What is the French for scam anyway?

A better idea is to have the chassis number(or part of)engraved on the glass. And all glass including the lights;some insurance companies will offer this for free.I was offered it in a supermarket c/park for £5 for the whole car.
