stained ceilings

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a French equivilent for Polycell stain stop.................ceilings are stained after water damage, and some walls have mildew stains.

Good stuff is Zinsser, I use it a lot in the UK and was pleased to see it In France, just can't remember where for a moment.

Thanks Teapot, I have just looked on line at brico depot and leroy merlin and both are not showing as sellling Zinsser............so i will await on your memory!!! and maybe google a little more [:D]

Hi

If all else fails I have painted over stain with gloss and then obviously repainted with normal emulsion.  It does seem to work in the absence of stain stop.

Most oil based paint should do the trick followed by emulsion.

Which one is the oil based now? Glycero or Acrylic? I wish the was a list somewhere for all the different types of paint as i forget all the time!!!

Hi,

 I know from experience that after using products purchased in france that I returned to the old favourite of using gloss paint as already suggested. All the other products produced patchy results and in some cases caused the overpainted emulsion paint to peel off when painted...................*^"*^" so back to gloss it was with the usual good results. Glycero I would imagine is nearest equivalent
