Anyone near Hesdin?

Recommended Posts

Hi Kim, or should that be hi neighbour!

What are you buying? We're getting a converted farmhouse, in almost the middle of nowhere, but only 10 minutes max from Hesdin.

Quite a bit of work to do, but mainly decorating Big Smile [:D] I'm pleased to say.

Oh yes - and buying just about everything from astrays to er....what begins with Z that we might need?

cheers

Richard

Good Morning, Richard

Welcome to the forum.

We are not too far away: Ambricourt, which is next to Azincourt - as the French say - 20 mins back towards Calais. Strangely enough whilst we kicked some French butt at Agincourt, there is a museum well worth a visit and it's a known tourist centre in season. The hotel Charles 6th is top notch and their restaurant is very good. The brasserie is much cheaper and very acceptable.

Whilst Fruges is our nearest town and our area commune, Hesdin is our more favoured town, 'cos it's a bit more, well couth!

Did you know that it was originally a Spanish town?

The market -Thursday - is the best one too: spreads all over from the town centre.

Don't eat in the town centre! Plenty of far better - and cheaper - places and some really excellent and expensive restaurants on the edges; one is near Huby St. Liue,  on the way to the Foret d'Hesdin; forget its name.

Hope all goes well.

Hi and thanks.

yes, couth is a good way to describe the town, although we won't get there too often, as we have dogs and wont leave them alone for too long at first, and will also have to spend all our time there decorating - not to mention buyng just about everything needed for a house, so we'll be on th elookout for good houseware stores, and Ikea might get a few visits!

Gifi in Hesdin are excellent for numerous value-for-money household items!

On the small parque commerciale, on the main roads into and out of the town, near the big Champion and the Montreail (doesn't look right!) road.

Avoid the adjacent shoestore, unless your delight is widgy pointed-toe cowboy boots![:-))]

Most agents there have the same properties on their books, and I have spoken to all of them!

The most helpful is http://www.ac-immobilier.fr/ang/index.php3

Speak to Jean Pierre, if you tell him that you were recommended by Richard in London he'll look after you.

They do have more properties on the books than you will see on the website, so it's worth a call.

Let me know how you get on.

Richard
