Kitchen and bathroom paint

A few years back I bought some French kitchen and bathroom paint and when it dried "glossy" I thought I had bought the wrong paint.I am about to paint a kitchen and before doing so I wondered whether I would be better off using British kitchen and bathroom paint which is matt and steam resistant.Apart from the fact that I am not particularly keen on a shine on the walls, is there any advantage in using the French paint? I am also concerned if I don't like it will it be possible to return to Matt-I somehow doubt it.

The most obvious advantage of using British paint is the cost. If you do use the glossy French paint and do not like it, make sure you use a sandpaper to "key" the paint before going over it with matt paint. Most  paints these days of the emulsion type are suitable for bathrooms and kitchens.  The manufactures will happily sell you more expensive kitchen and bathroom paint, don't fall for it it's just a marketing plot to get more money out of you.
