tomba Posted January 15, 2016 Share Posted January 15, 2016 Four years ago I bought a Supra wood burning stove, model HF 3950, on eBay. I installed it myself; connected the rear flue to the chimney tube and it was done.There has always been one problem: it refuses to run gently with the damper pushed in. No way can I have it ticking over all night.Searching this forum led me to “baffle plate”. I think I have one of those! It sits at the top of the combustion chamber and slopes down, from the top of the front to the rear. I note that there are, on each side of the fire box, projections on which, maybe, the plate could sit?One post mentioned “horizontal baffle plate”….Advice and guidance will be most welcome! Thanks. Théière Posted January 15, 2016 Share Posted January 15, 2016 Not a fan of Supras despite the Flam vert BS sticker they are poor and two of the relatives have them and neither gets an all night burn (won't discuss if that a good idea or not)Suggest you go shopping and take a look inside said model for the top baffle plate but your post baffled me, you think you have one of those, or the lugs it rests on? yes wood burners have them to increase the heat in the burn/combustion chamber and to slow down the heat lost up the chimney so it can warm more of the mass of the stove. The plate is at an angle of about 40 degrees.This morning I took the plate out, cleaned it and set it horizontally on the lugs. We needed a new grate which was no longer available so we got one the correct size from Amazon.Can't help with your problem, tomba, because ours does burn slowly with the damper in. We never intentionally have it burning all night. Now and again a particularly large and dense log is stll smouldering in the morning.What kind of wood do you use?Husband said the top plate should be sloping not level.
