1. I have had permission for a shed (5m x 3m) to be built in my garden and I am in the middle of laying a concrete base. On the original submitted plans I said it would be bulit in wood, with a proper tiled roof. Now I'm thinking I would like to build it in cement blocks. Is there anything to stop me doing that now? It will be exactly the same size as the original and I will clad it in wood anyway to keep it more sympathetic to the surroundings, but I want it to be more substantial and insect-free than just a wooden shed.
2. Ronseal were less than helpful and 'International' paints, aren't!  [:(]
3. Thanks, but does that mean these paints don't exist in France?
4. Anyone found a product here to paint melamine with? I have to do a quick fix on some kitchen cupboards and wondered whether it was worth trying anything like this, as I don't believe you can actually paint the stuff and get it to last. Unless anyone knows any different?  Thanks.
5. If you have a website, do what we've just done and put a currency converter on it rather than a fixed sterling cost. We only quote in euros now, if they want to find the current value in pounds, they can use the converter.
6. Does anyone know a code for unlocking a blackberry phone? I unlocked my old Nokia with help from here (for free) so I wondered if anyone knew the code for a blackberry pearl phone? There are plenty of sites offering unlocking for a fee but you have to wait between 7 to 14 days for them to send stuff and it's nearly xmas!! Many thanks in advance
7. Blimey! Electricity in 1750! Do the historians know about this?  [;-)]
8. Would any fellow artists like to put reciprocal links on their websites to ours? We'd like our gallery site to one day have a decent sized directory of artists in France, so we'll put a link to your site if you put one to ours (that's if you like it obviously).
9. I have a friend whose pool has turned a lovely shade of dark green. In order to sort it out, what sort of questions should I ask them (ie is it a salt water pool or what sort of filtration does it use etc?) Thanks in advance
10. Poshpaul, I think they are hinting that there's a very good reason that there are so many B&Bs for sale in that area, ie they maybe went out of business cos of saturation?
11. The origin of this letter... http://www.snopes.com/business/bank/takethat.asp
12. Thanks all for your advice, very helpful.
13. Is this possible? I have a set of 3 halogen 12v  (with transformer) downlights and was wondering whether I can put a dimmer switch on these?
14. Thank you, and yes, it was one of two huge pumpkins we grew in our garden. Here they were a few weeks ago..
15. We didn't rick or treat, but our daughter and friends did - they had a great time. I did carve a pumpkin however...
16. I've seen about 8 lights for 25 euros for sale in LeClerc, very pretty they are too, and I agree, they make a dark place look occupied.
17. Hello Mme Poivre (love the VW by the way, I'm a big aircooled fan). I've just found out also that our bank will accept UK cheques, but they'll take a few days to clear and, as you say, they understandably make a charge.
18. Has anyone just written a cheque to themselves drawn on a UK account and paid it into their french bank? I'm asking because I've paid US dollar cheques into my UK account in the past and they've just calculated the rate (and charged me for it naturally) and credited my account accordingly. I just wondered if it was as easy here?
19. Thank you. I suspect they don't really know why they want salt, it just sounds nicer than chlorine I suppose! I will relay all the facts to them and I guess they will stay with what they've got. Thanks for your input.
20. Hello, I'm asking this for friends who don't have internet access. Is it possible to change a swimming pool that currently uses chlorine etc into one that uses salt? I'm afraid I don't know any details about the pool, I'm just asking if it's even vaguely feasible. Thanks.
21.
Surely you cannot expect people to pay what you normally charge in the summer for six months off-season?  That would cost a fortune!
Well, obviously not, no we have a low season too. I meant a discount from that.
