  1. Hi, Come on you guys, everyone is usually brilliant..............please help !!!! Too much of the summer red wine gone to your heads (LOL) Mel.
  2. Hi, has anyone got any suggestions as to what would be a good "sealer" for some plaquette de parement we have used, they are the fake plaster type. We would like to seal them with something (as cheaply as possible) that helps when we are dusting etc, but without changing the creamy colour of the product too much. Any thoughts gratefully accepted. Thanks Mel.
  3. Hi, I would think the "green" plasterboard would be hydrofuge, we used this in our showers and tiled directly on to it, with as yet no problems, so far !!, providing all the grouting you do is very sound. We are only amatuers at this so someone else may be able to offer other information. Mel.
  4. Hi, I made some enquiries on the forum a couple of weeks ago and was pointed in the direction of a local dentist. (87290) He is brilliant !!!! Cured my raging infection and then in the next two appointments fixed the culprit of my toothache. Would recommend him to anyone local. Good luck with finding a good dentist. Mel.

  11. Hi, I think that our hallway is got old lime plaster on it (how do you tell ??) It's all fairly sound apart from a few bits we have had to patch up. Is it ok to paint with crown matt emulsion (as we have gallons of it) or do we need to use special paint and if so why and what ? Any help or information appreciated. Thanks. Mel.
  12. Hi Kevinmc, Well, given that for me any dental experience has got to be one of my nightmares this was almost a dream !! The dentist was friendly and we managed to do it all in my pidgeon french and his very much better english. Diagnosis of a lost root filling and an extensive infection which had spead to the jaw. Lots of pain relief (injection form) then extensive proding poking and drilling a little pain (inevitable I suppose) temperary filling was in and another date set for next week. Px given for antibiotics and more pain relief (at a bargsin price of 5 euro 20 cents !!!!!!) He said no bill until the job was done and I was happy. Don't care how much the final bill is (although he estimates about 50-60 euros) I'm one happy forum user !

  18. Hi, We had originally been with orange for the first ywo years of being in france and had tons of problems with the web crashing, being thrown off web sites, not being able to open numerous sites. We swapped to teleconnect in may this year and apart from the few intial glitches that everyone was having at that time we have had no problems with the computer connections or the free uk line. Hope it continues like this.....................who can say !!! Mel.
  19. Hi tuppence, sent loads of e-mails over the last few days and two just now (11am sunday) not having any problems, hope you can get it sorted. Mel.

  21. Hi, We have got a two year old Butterfly lavender bush that has had lots of flowers on again this year, problem is the bee's have had a feild day harvesting the pollen (which i'm quite happy about) and it now looks "finished" for this year, should i just leave it or can i cut it right back now. (It looks kinda dried out and dead in the middle) Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks. Mel.
  22. Dog, maybe you should get some help with the "retarded homophobe" problem and then you could really enjoy your shopping at the troc.
  23. Hi, On the autoentrepeneur website it tells you that you have to tell the Mairie the location of the house, number of rooms (which has to be less than 5) the maximum guests you can accomadate etc, worth having a quick look. You could pop in to see your local Marie as i'm sure they will know all the details, registering with the autoentrepeneur can be done on-line or on a pre-printed form. Mel
  24. Hello, There is no problem with registering with the autoentrepeneur scheme for"letting furnished rooms" as long as they are the main part of your own home or "attached" to your own home. You have to provide en-suite bathrooms, linen, towels, toiletries as per usual stuff. Of course you have to have permission from the Mairie. You have to return your takings on a monthly/quarterly basis and are "taxed/social cotributions" at 23%. If you don't earn anything your return has to be done but you do not pay contributions. My understanding is that this arrangement can continue for 3 years at which point things change but not sure how at the minute. Will get my partner to post the "link" as I can't find it at the minute. Hope thats useful for now. Mel
  25. Just to let people know I have found all the information on the autoentrepeneur web site, but thanks for the reply Cathy
