4. I will make it...I will make it....I will make it....I am rubbish at this but will persevere[:P] here's an easier one, you need to click on the large round blue button at bottom right to start, the object is to get everyone across the river, you can't leave the Dad with the girls and you can't leave the Mum with the boys and the convict cannot be left with anyone except the Policeman...confused..you will be! Click a person to put them on the raft and then the red knob on the post...please  Kathy..none of that please! Oh and there has to be an adult on the raft with a child at all times and you can only have two people at a time on the raft....phew. The need for this explanation will become obvious when you try it.[;-)] http://freeweb.siol.net/danej/riverIQGame.swf best of luck,,,now where did that bl***y red square get too? regards Dave

  8.
This is a typical manual switch allowing three inputs to one scart. If one of the inputs is a recorder you can record from one of the other inputs whilst watching the third input on the TV. Typical cost 15 to 20 Euros. Places like a mid size Auchan will have them. We also have a sender (transmitter) between the swich and the TV allowing us to watch either satellite on a small LCD TV in the kitchen.
Hi Miki,  we have one of the above and it has three buttons to select which device you are watching and another three that allow you to choose which one to record from and connections for your hi-fi, very useful but you may need to make a note of which button does what once you have them all connected, at least until you can remember...unless you have a teenager in the house then you will have no problems at all... best regards Dave[:D]

    Cost of living
I also think that as the money gets tighter in later years the social security structure in the UK is probably more generous, what with pension credits etc. Even if things are equal I think it would be easier to winkle out one's full entitlement in English rather than in a foreign language. On a related topic, I have noticed increasing numbers of British, probably retired, couples in our local Aldi / Lidl stores who are obviously doing their full weekly shop. Now I enjoy hunting around these shops and there are certainly bargains and some novelties to be had. However if I was doing all my shopping there I wouldn't feel that I was truly having much of a French life experience. These discount shops make no secret that they are catering to the poorer  (underclass?) sectors. Is this the new growth sector?  British migrants trying to keep up appearances on inadequate budgets?
Oh dear...now I am in the 'underclass'.....[:(]

    Cost of living

£9,500 per year...I would say yes, we have lived here for 4 years now and manage a nice enough life on less than that. I would take into account the need for stash of some kind to fund any unforseen epenses but that said...No mortgage, No credit cards, low 'council' tax and the fact that you seem to be living a pretty self sufficient life already in the UK you will fit into the life here with ease, our neighbours are the best and share whatever they have in abundance, fruit, nuts, laughter, sadness. At times we have found things hard but when we considered leaving our neighbours rallied and helped us overcome. Bob T is right, without the cost of renovation and no mortgage life can be good, just concentrate on the important expenses one of which will be your top up insurances, research this carefully, we found that we were paying over the odds for not very good cover, one of the items listed was maternity cover, both in our late fifties we hardly needed to be paying that[:D] Don't believe that it is all 'milk and honey' but with some effort it goes a long way towards 'the good life' best of luck Dave

Answers on an e-postcard to Cassis, please.
I was just making a comment that after my first post on this topic I now have absolutely no idea what anyone is talking about and your response to my post is most likely a good indication to users here as to why new users do not hang around for long.....[:P]
