Derek - at least the insurance should have paid up ?????  Your son was unlucky.  Yes it can happen, but I've heard of far more problems concerning PCs than Macs ! Nobody's perfect......[;-)]

...to be compatible with PC.  Are PCs automatically compatible with Mac ???? There are plenty of Mac dealers in France - even a small town like Saumur has one !  But Macs don't go wrong like PCs - and if you have, as we did, a burn out of the motherboard after a power surge (in spite of a protector) the insurance pays up instantly !  You will rarely hear someone who says "I love my PC" but Mac users are all alike in their love of the little apple !

Mac is really simple and uncomplicated.  When you buy your machine, you get the latest software.  You don't have to choose between a professional, student's or whatever - it's all the same !  No, I'm not a salesman ! !

Mac is so easy - one click where PC need 4.....yes, I know PC is getting more modern, but there's something special about a Mac.

J’ai toujours aimé l’expression en anglais «  je suis mariée pour le meilleur et pour le pire, mais pas pour le déjeuner » Aujourd’hui il ne fait pas très beau, il y a du vent et beaucoup de nuages au ciel.  Je suis en train de pendre nos volets (il y en un tas) après avoir été très déçue par le lasure.  J’en ai mare de refaire le lasure tous les deux ans parce qu’il ne tient pas. Tiens, j’ai loupé le déjeuner…..et maintenant mes vers commencent à grogner…..(ou m’engueler… !) @+

Bonjour à tous Je suis là - toujours beaucoup à faire avant d'avoir le temps de m'asseoir devant mon ordi.... même si moi aussi, je ne suis pas très matinale....[blink] Je déteste le ménage mais je le ferai demain - avant l'arrivée de Mr Callie.  Il faut imaginer les dégâts faits par les chiens (2 bergers australiens, l'un de 2 ans et l'autre de 6 mois) - elles sont comme deux ados dans la maison... Mr Frenchie est bien gâté d'avoir un boeuf bourguignon à midi !  Mr Callie est obligé d'attendre le weekend.  (En fait, il se déplace pour son travail et il est souvent absent pendant la semaine........aaah, la tranquilité ! ![:D])

Malheureusement je suis une vraie phillistine (je ne sais pas si on peut dire ça en français ????) en ce qui concerne l'opéra. Je ne veux pas dire que je ne l'aime pas, mais c'est un style de musique difficile à comprendre. J'aime bien la musique classique et folklorique. Je trouve Arte bien pour les concerts. J'aime bien les émissions de la nature - et j'adore Thalassa et Des Racines et des Ailes. Il y a pas très loin de nous "l'Opéra de Baugé" qui présent une fois par an un spectacle (opéra). Selon des amis, c'est très bien organisé et bien fait. Je crois que les artistes viennent de partout. Il y a un site web pour l'Opéra.

Sweet, même les français font des erreurs - l'importance, c'est de faire l'effort ! ! Mais d'apprendre une langue me fait enormément de plaisir.  Je ne regarde que la télé française - une très bonne façon d'apprendre, même si au début il est difficile à tout comprendre et les gens parlent trop vite.  J'ai bien aimé regarder les policiers comme Julie Lescaut, Une Femme d'Honneur, Navarro, PJ etc etc.  Il y en a beaucoup. D'autres personnes aiment des "Game shows" comme "A Prendre ou à laisser", mais ça, ce n'est pas trop mon truc ! Actuellement il y a Grey's Anatomy que je trouve drôle...! [:D]

Like JR, we've carried fluo gilets in the cars for years but have no intention of draping them over the seats.  They'd get covered in dog hairs and hay and all the other muck that seems to find its way into the car.  I like Frederick's idea of designer ones for boys and girlies.  Rose Barbie and violet ?

Bon, d’accord…..d’abord je vous prie de m’excuser d’avance mes fautes d’orthographe……il y aura pas mal….mais c'est comme ça qu'on apprend... C’est une très bonne idée de pouvoir discuter en français.  Je n’ai pas beaucoup de possibilité d’écrire car mon travail est plutôt pratique ! Excuse-moi – il faut que je me présente :  je m’appelle Callie (même si c’est le nom d’un de nos chiens… !) et j’habite en France avec mon mari depuis presque onze ans.   En arrivant ici, Mr Callie parlait déjà bien français mais, quant à moi, très très peu ! Il travaillait à l’Ecole Navale à Brest et était obligé de faire la navette tous les weekends.  Moi, j’ai « géré » les ouvriers et en même temps j’ai appris le francais. En fait, j’ai commencé lire des livres de poche…..mais je dois aussi avouer d’avoir lu les traductions des auteurs comme Barbara Cartland .  Mais j’avais bientôt honte et j’ai lu tous les livres de Carol Higgins Clarke et Patricia Cornwell.  Mais ils étaient toujours des traductions, donc depuis quelque temps je cherche les auteurs francais. Bon, il faut que je m’arrête car ça risque de faire endormir tout le monde ! @+

We have been told that using softeners takes away the absorbancy of towels. We find drying them outside when it isn't too hot seems to make them softer (sort of midway between hard and very soft !). If they dry too quickly in the hot sun, they go hard. We haven't got a tumble dryer....

Like Rodders, we've got a Husquvarna for the garden (about 3/4 hectare). It has a mulcher or you can shoot the grass out of the side. It's brilliant and was about 1,000 € from Mr Bricolage. Incidentally, we had a Honda before - wonderful, but overpriced and not nearly as robust as the Husquvarna. We don't use it in the horses' fields !

We are lucky enough to have a GP who is also an osteopath. Unfortunately, there is no remboursement for the osteopathy, but it's worth every penny. You don't need to have put a disc out to go and see one, and it isn't just cold-blooded crunching either ! I do a lot of physical work and every so often my spine needs to be "stretched" - a bit like cracking your fingers when they get a bit compacted. It certainly does the trick. Also take cod liver oil and glucosamine sulphate. The Phytalgic sounds interesting - I have seen it advertised.

We have only had one lot of no-shows (French) who double booked and didn't have the decency to cancel our room. However, having heard from the people they did eventually stay with, we were well shot of them ! It was the only time I haven't asked for a deposit for the room !

Quillan - I suspect the people you spoke of don't really want any customers ! They'd be happy just to take the cash ! !

Cerise - I quite agree.  A wedding party is one thing.  But for one couple, absolutely not.  We are CdH, not a hotel, and we do not charge hotel prices.    In fact, I've just remembered - we stayed at an extremely nice 4* spa hotel in St Malo and even they don't serve breakfast after 10 o'clock ! I'm afraid we, the owners****, set the rules here, though special requests in advance may be catered for.  When there is a wedding in the area, there is such a shortage of B&Bs that we find people are only too happy to accept what we offer !  **** I hasten to add that B&B is not our main source of income.  However, we have never had anyone turn us down on account of our breakfast times (8h - 9h)
