1. After fully inspected ours it was found that the bottom had collapsed and it was not viable to repair so we decided to replace it with an oil burner instead. I think the manual was binned with the old wood burner. STeve
2. What is more annoying is that Honda UK is actually in the same building as Honda Europe so you would think that someone somewhere would try and get things sorted. Oh well they have had my money.........[:P] Will go down the dealer route and see if I can pursuade him to assist. Thanks for you input it is much appreciated. STeve
3. Have received a reply from Honda UK "As I understand, the CNIT number given by Honda France is a number given out once the motorcycle has been modified to French Specifications by a Honda dealer in France. As this is the case, we are unable to supply this number from Honda UK and would be something you'd need to arrange with Honda France." So basically I seem to have come up against the proverbial wall, at least Honda were quick with their reply. Think I'll go and sit in a darkened room...........[+o(]
4. Have had a reply back from Honda UK who say that the type approval number I have is correct. I have now asked them if they can contact Honda France for the CNIT number and the CNIT to be included on a new COC...I wont hold my breath.[Www] STeve
5. Ok Update on the above. Spoken to Honda UK who asked me to email copy of COC to check out that there is no problem with type numbers etc. Would it be possible to use another Prefecture to eliminate that the problem could be with Limoges prefecture. I am equi distance from Poitiers and with registeration being national and not regional now would be a problem? STeve
6. Thanks SD Will have to contact Honda UK to check out if I have the correct E* number for the Pan STeve
7. Hmmmm I wonder as on the V5 it is exactly the same number and the bike was bought new in the UK.. but would it make a difference if the bike was registered in Germany? STeve
8. I went to the Prefecture at Limoges to register my ST1300 Pan armed with all the documentation and having spent 4 hours in the queue eventually made it to the counter only to be told that there was a problem with the type number on the COC from Honda UK. The COC is listing the 'e1*92/61*0147*03' along with the VIN No and dated and signed. Not very happy left with my tail between my legs. On returning home I contacted Honda UK and told them the problem, they told me that this was the correct document and that is what they send out to all customers who want to register in europe.. I highlighted the correct type numbers on the document and went back to the Prefecture only to find that the computers were down and had to leave the documentation with them. Today in the post I received the documentation back stating that "there is a problem with the type number and to contact le constructeur.. Just want to know if there is any other form of attack I can take before I contact Honda Europe regarding this problem.. STeve
9. Thank you Craig, Looks well priced. STeve

11. (The electricity and water was cut off a year ago - how much notice do we have to give the companies to have it reconnected.) If the immobilier is worth there money they will get the electricity and water re-instated for you.
12. Thanks for that Edward. Has any one heard of this make of boiler and if so are spares easy to obtain?   Thanks in advance   STeve
13. Hi All, We have just had an offer accepted on a property in the Haute Vienne and are really looking forward to putting our own stamp on it.. The property has a wood/gas burner, the make is a 'Royal turbo Marolotherm' it needs a good service and wondering if anyone could put us in touch with a good service engineer? Your help is appreciated. STeve
14. Thank you SD. Another thing ticked off the list just got to finalise the sale and here we come. Regards Steve
15. Thanks Clair. Unfortunately none of these posts tell me if the entrance/exit door of the motorhome needs to be on the RH side of the vehicle as mine is on the LH side as per uk spec. Regards Steve
16. I know that this subject has been covered before (a search found posts from 2007) but does anyone know if the rules are easier for importing a UK registered 2007/8 motorhome since 2007. Thanks in advance. Steve
17. (Nationwide are the exception at the moment)   Nationwide have already started looking at overdraft facilities. I received a letter from them yesterday stating that my overdraft facility is being reduced and the charge for exceeding the overdraft would more than double[8-)], as I don't pay enough into the bank to justify it. (not that I use it).[:P] They also went onto say that my account would be reviewed in the next few months. Don't know what they mean by that.... As I only use the nationwide account for my jaunts into France a few times a year then I only pay into the a/c what I need. I will eventually have my funds paid into the Nationwide when we move to France permanently. Steve
18. Well thanks for that. [B] I thought our vet may have been wrong and the replies on here have proved it. Thanks again for the information. We will let her know (vet) what reallly needs to happen.   STeve
19. Hi, Firstly let me apologise if this has been asked before but can't seem to find the answer.   We are moving to france at the end of the year and are bringing our 2 cats with us. We have no intention of returning to the UK ever......... and want to know what we require to bring the cats over. Our vet seems to think that as we are not returning with the cats then we dont need the passport/microchips only the vaccine. Is this correct or has she got it wrong.   Your help would be appreciated.   steve
20. Having never driven the route before I can only suggest the following. Leave Montlucon on the A71 then onto the A10 to junction 13 then onto the N154 for Chartres then onto Dreux and Evreux. North of Evreux you pick up the A154 and then the A13. At junction 13 leave the A13 and pick up the D18E signed Rouen crossing La Seine on the Pont Mathilde. Pick up the N28 then A28 to junction 23 and then onto the A16 onto Calais. A total of 395 miles from the centre of Montlucon to the ferry terminal. If you went the original route via Paris its a total of 390 miles but will be quicker as it is a faster route. Hope this is of help to you and enjoy your journey whichever one you take.[:)] STeve
21. Thanks SD, Thats the kind of answer I was looking for (no disrespect to any of the other posters). Looking forward to making France our home. Steve
22.
No and yes. As a result of the changes to health care in france, new early retirees can not access the CMU de base, however if they remain in france for 5 years they are allowed to join the CMU de base. It all very much depends on your circumstances.   ams
This sounds complicated any chance you could explain a little more please, after all I'm a thick northerner and don't grasp things.[8-)]   Steve
23. Thanks both for your replies. Tax on CMU de base? Thought we wouldn't be covered by CMU or have I got it wrong? Looks like we have some sorting out to do with regard income & tax before we cross the channel. Well done to both Arsenal and Manchester for progressing in the Champions league.   Steve ps got my COC for the Pan European so that one thing less to worry about[8-|]
24. Ams, thanks for the reply. What happens if my wife leaves her investment in the UK account which is free of tax and we use it to draw on when and if required.   Steve
25. Hi everyone,   We will be moving to the Limousin/Burgundy in January 2009. I will be getting a Government Pension taxed in the UK my wife has a savings account where the interest is paid tax free because she below the tax thresh hold. What money would the French take tax out off? Your help would be appreciated and I am sorry if this question has been asked before.[:D]   Steve
