  1. That is amazing Rowan I cried all the way through it. It looks like Speed will improve each day, fingers and everything else crossed for him. Deborah
  2. Frenchie he looks identical to a little dog I recently adopted from the SPA in Carcassonne.
  3. Hi. I'm hoping someone there has experience of Orange Satellite Internet and can let me have a view as to its performance, reliability and so on. At the moment, we have a LiveBox connected to the regular Orange land-line and it's performance is slow, very erratic and not in the least reliable. We have the two mega service but never see anything like that kind of speed, the internet phone keeps dropping out and Skype just isn't practical. I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has Orange Satellite and who'd be willing to give it a quick review in this forum. Thanks in advance.
  4. You're an angel Rowan, lucky Bella she's destined for a happy life now.
  5. I looked at the link and I couldn't find him either so sorry Christineanimal and Russethouse but I think you were both a bit harsh with Merlin! And yes she is doing her best to find homes for the dogs!
  6. I contacted someone I know in the UK who owns husky dogs for sledding. This is his reply: "have posted the link onto my facebook page and also my partners. Both have links to networks of sled dog folk. They will pass it on in turn to their networks. Also contacted a couple of local groups of sled dog owners. Keeping everything crossed". So I'm hoping something good will come to Skye soon. Deborah
  7. Brought tears to my eyes. You are truly wonderful people giving Sammy a forever home.
  8. I saw her when I visited the SPA and burst into tears! Her nose was bleeding quite badly and she looked totally stressed out. There must be someone out who is experienced with the breed who could take her.
  9. I collected Edouard from Rowan, he is a sort of poodle. As soon as I put him in the car he rewarded me for rescuing him by peeing all over the back seat! My other five dogs welcomed him and so far they are all getting on fine. He's not house trained yet so I'm following him around all day but I'm sure he will soon learn not to pee on the chicken feed. He now needs a bath and a bit of a shave to sort out his matted coat. He is the sweetest boy and I'm sure we will have many happy years together. Thank you, again, Rowan you are doing a cracking job at the SPA even though sometimes it doesn't feel like it. best wishes Deborah
  10. I have just returned home from a visit to the SPA at Carcassonne. Whilst walking round I found it very distressing seeing all the dogs obviously stressed out! I spent most of the time crying. As I was stood trying to compose myself a lady passed me also crying - I later found the lady to be Rowan! She had just found a home for a dog who had been there a long time and was crying with happiness. I was looking for a small dog as I already have three large dogs and two small ones. I found a lovely little poodle x in an enclosure on his own and I will be bringing him home on Tuesday - his new name will be Eduard. Thank you Rowan, see you Tuesday, you are doing a fantastic job there, I know I couldn't do it - you are one dedicated girl! Deborah
  11. Hopefully I will be able to persuade my husband to visit the SPA at the weekend, we already have five dogs but I'm sure there's room for another small one. I have a rescue who I acquired through Christine Animal and when I took her to the vets I asked what breed she was and I was told she was a ratter but to me she looks like a long haired chihuahua!
  12. Hi My husband is stuck in the UK - is anyone travelling from UK to Aude within the next few days that he could hitch a lift with? Obviously willing to help with costs/petrol. Long shot I know but worth a try! best regards Deborah
  13. That is fantastic news I have been reading this thread dreading that he wouldn't find a forever home. Fingers and toes crossed that he gets on with Picos and the cats. Bless you both Deborah x
  14. I have been watching this thread for a few days now and am hoping things move positively for the dog. Fingers and toes crossed here too. Deborah
  15. My husband has suffered with depression for many years and for the last five years taken medication for it. This has dulled his senses and he doesn't like the other side effects they cause. What I want to know is if there is anyone that has controlled depression with diet and different vitamins. I have read up on the internet that folic acid, b6, b12, zinc and magnesium all help as do a diet high in omega oil. All positive replies will be much appreciated.

    Cat's third eyelid

Thanks for your response JohnRoss I think in the first instance I will worm him - getting prepared now. Heavy duty gloves - check, thick coat - check, very large towel - check. Wish me luck!
  18. My cat's third eyelid appeared three days ago and apart from that there is no outward sign that there is anything wrong with him. He is eating well and is very active. I have had cats for over 30 years and when this happens there is usually something wrong with them but not this time - any ideas please.

    CHICKENS

We've got brown chickens with no feathers on their necks, I thought there was something wrong with them at first. We get lovely large eggs sometimes with double yolks. We got ours at the local market - we won't be eating them.

    Greenhouse

Hi Does anyone know where I can get a cheap greenhouse? I don't need a very big one as I only want it for my seedlings. I live in Aude. Thanks
  21. OMG I'm glad I don't live where you do JohnRoss I have had cats for over 30 years in the city and now in the countryside and not once have they succumbed to any of the above. I have 10 cats who have freedom to go where they chose and I certainly wouldn't have it any way. They live in harmony with dogs and chickens who they don't look twice at. My cats range from 18 down to 14 weeks and appear to have a happy life and as long as you keep yours inoculated and flea free please don't keep them incarcerated the rest of their days let them have fun. regards Louis
  22. Sorry to butt in on question for Christine but I have kept cats for the last 30 years and have at present got 10. I have three sets of brothers and brothers and sisters. I think that it was just the nature of your male, as in humans we don't always like our siblings do we? Sometimes my lot bicker a bit but in general get on really well. Don't be put off by your past experience as the new ones will probably love each others company. Best of luck
