Take three students into your home in the year and that means 3 CRB checks. Think of the money they are making ...I had three checks in one year . two were for different NHS Trusts I worked with . Tax payer paid for those , I expect a host family will have to pay for their own . Husband and wife ...that would be 6 fees to pay

Our troubles are over ..the UK governement have come up with a way of fixing our debt problems from next April. If you are a farmer or land owner who holds car boot sales expect a massive bill from the tax man that you will have to pass on to stall holders and people who go to the sales looking for a bargain . So there it is the car boot sale community are going to save the day ! What will they think of next ?

Even in Australia you cant get people in one area with more water than they need to agree to build dams and then pipe it down to where there is desperate need and its not fit to drink . Queensland huge rainfall and floods ...why isnt that conserved and piped into areas where there has been no rain for 10 years .

I believe Gaza and Syria are facing huge problems in the near future rivers cant meet demand . I feel if the UN is worth anything at all they should be unifying nations to work together to meet the demand for water in such places now . Not wait for populations to move to find it then all hell break loose as people fight over it .Peoples need for water is going to be the biggest problem to deal with worldwide one our grandchidren are going to have to sort out . You are right Powerdiesel there could be a huge amount of work on water supply projects for thousands of people worldwide . If oil can be moved right accross europe ..Why not fresh water ?

Seems Gordon Brown is going to flog off the UK share of the ownership of the channel tunnel . Given the gold sell off the guy arranged at rock bottom prices the tunnel is bound to be going cheap....Any idea who is likely to want to buy into it ?

One UK charity shop near me is selling a range of new Spannish and electric guitars They have been for some time so must be buying them in .I could understand a music shop owner being upset by that !

I was not happy about the cost of investigations that were carried out by the RSPCA. I believe they folowed trucks all over europe on one occasion to see how often cattle were watered on their way to slaughter that must have cost a fortune in salery and expenses ...Appeals on expensive court case decisions where the money left in contested willls ends up in lawers pockets does not make them any more popular to me .

Going by the numer of French people in Poole yesturday with well filled shopping bags (they bring their supermarket ones with them so easy to spot ) they like England and the English enough to come over and spend their money here .

I noticed this year almost all the leaves stripped off a hibiscus and it crawling with " gendarmes " I thought they only eat green fly and left them to it and did not spray.Leaves still vanished Could they be the cause or should I suspect some other critter ! Not lack of water they got plenty

As I have just in the past few days booked a hotel room in Hendaye which is spitting distance from Biarritz this could make for an interesting stay. They can threaten as much as they like this Brit intends to put his bum on a Basque beach next month and tour the area an area I have never visited before ...if they dont like it ...tough !
