Part of France may disappear. So sad.

Ah, BiB, you are turning into our very own Donald Trump. Never knew you were an acolyte of his! -

Yes, I know but it sounded better! A sort of Damocles hangs over them unless they can be bought out or restructured. -
Duralex whose small glasses must be in just about every home in the world seems to have gone bust. https://www.lefigaro.fr/societes/la-marque-duralex-connue-pour-ses-verres-de-la-cantine-va-t-elle-disparaitre-20200925

Well, it is an anomaly in their collection. Perhaps it might go to a national museum but could they afford to buy it? Definitely not abroad.
-
No, no, they are artworks, part of national heritage, belong to the people. Jaguars are just not very nice cars!

French customs are pretty hot at confiscating prescription drugs that are posted from abroad, so beware, Lori.

More Covid restrictions coming in in Cities
woolybanana replied to NormanH's topic in The Complete France Post Bag
Yes, hard working people who have run their businesses successfully, making some success despite an overly hostile French system have Covid to cope with on top. It is enough to make one give up and become a fonctionnaire. Does the restauranteurs pretty daughter sit with you so you dont eat alone? -
The Royal Academy in London is in dire financial straits and needs to save some £8 million which involves a couple of hundred redundancies. One proposal is that they should sell a unique artwork known as the Tondo, by Michelangelo, the only piece of his in the country, to raise cash. So, should we sell our great pieces of art to save jobs? My gut tells me no, but what do others think? Should France sell the Mona Lisa, for example? It has been suggested. https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2020/sep/20/royal-academys-cruel-dilemma-sell-a-michelangelo-or-lose-150-jobs

Norman, how has your life in the barrel been concerned as you are neither shop nor bar (apart from the little glasses of home distilled péké you dish out to favoured givers)? You getting food alright either via your favourite restos or deliveries? -
Disenfranchised expats, who cares! Unless he ups his game, Borees will not last much beyond final Brexit; the men is grey suits will come for him. Frankly I think he will be relieved.

I would think so.

I think the UK govt uses Citibank for pension transfers in Euros. As this must be lucrative business that the bank won by competitive tender I imagine they would be keen to keep it so would negotiate passporting deals.
-
Yes, Norman, sadly missed, though I thought he was long gone. His gruff voice sticks in memory, particularly.

Is any BBC “personality” worth more than £100,000? How do they work out the “value” of faces such a G Linekar or some of the DJs? Surely, they are just playing licence payers for fools.?

Some banks may close accounts but I doubt if all are interested. Lloyds have said they will keep accounts open but apparently Barclays want them closed. Guess we shall just have to wait and see what is going to happen. Passporting is complex.

An interesting opinion from a former French yellow jersey holder. Spunds like sour grapes but...... https://sport24.lefigaro.fr/scan-sport/actualites/tour-de-france-un-ancien-maillot-jaune-a-eu-envie-de-vomir-devant-le-sacre-de-pogacar-1015116

JJ, did you buy the plans for the Tiger Moth, was it a kit. Love to know more with my grandson in mind.
