Medical MOT
Apparently you can ask for a bilan de santé .. not sure who you ask but the centres are few and far between ..
My wife's best friend, (French), told her about this service about 5 years ago having used it herself.  There is a facility local for us and my wife called up for an appointment and was duly seen within the month. I suggest you call your MT or local CPAM to check what may be available where you live.
  2.
And he's 'lost' the metal fixture component that was on the co-axial cable.  Having looked at the fittings available from Amazon I can't see any that match this old Humax box.
As your present box is a Humax I think you will find THIS is the connector required to connect the coaxial cable to the box.It is a 'screw on to cable' male type F plug and you will find the instructions on how it is fitted are within the #5 image on the left of the Amazon page. As long as the female connection on the box is not damaged they should connect.
  3.
OK - I'll admit it - I haven't a clue about modern techno - have real problems. We need a 'new' satellite decoder box - and we need it for UK tv.   Please don't give me a hard time about this;  OH is in early stages of Alzy and 'watches a lot of UK tv'...................... Chessie
From the above I would take it that Chessie is already in possession of a sat-box and is seeking a replacement. Perhaps if she can post the make and model number, if they do actually have one,  it might be possible to find an identical replacement which would, hopefully, assist her in the task of installing and setting up the replacement as the cables and remote control will be the same.
  4. 2021 has been proposed by the EU and each state will select either permanant summer or permanant winter time. A recipe for a total co.ck-up if you ask me. HERE
  5.
Could be, but more likely Moscow. Which is more inland.
Now that makes much more sense.
I think St. Petersburg is on the Baltic coast.
You're quite right. What was I thinking? Thanks for that Patf.
  6. I'm guessing here. I would say the bright star like location near the top right corner has to be St. Petersburg. Can anyone confirm/reject?
  7.
And the award for the brightest EU country must go to Holland, I have no idea why they need so much night light, but it is amazingly bright[:D]
It will be generated from all their cigi-lighters being used to spark up their joints and spliffs.
  8.
Why should the EU look east?
If you aren't already aware the UK will be withdrawing its leadership abilities, stablizing influences and financial support from the EU on the 31st October. These are all qualities that Britain has diligently bestowed around the world for centuries. The EU will regret its untimely stance with the UK and ultimately it will fall apart within itself via economic strangulation or civil unrest following Britains departure. Hence the suggestion for the EU to look East to see what could possibly manifest itself similar to that of Britains withdrawl from Hong Kong 20 years ago. To be clear, the end of the months events will have very little impact, if any, on my overall situation so I have no axes to grind.
  9.
Well, I had not thought that leaving NATO was also part of all this..???? is it?????????
Try a little further afield. Say, Hong Kong. One protester shot by police with live ammunition.Would never have happened during British governance.
  10. and observe the unwanted outcome after the UK relinquishes its long term presence in a specific place within the world. Not for the first time either.
  11. It would appear Complete France Forum has not suffered monsieur le president's axe after all. This therefore is old news (4 days late). "Macron has abandoned his pledge of slashing 50,000 central government jobs during his five-year term, saying that only 10,500 would be now be cut". Will a similar row-back develop with his promised €9 billion tax cuts in 2020? France draft budget.
  12. Whilst I have been resident in several different countries throughout my life I have never had the inclination to ship foodstuff etc., which I happen to be partial to, from one jurisdiction to another. However, although I am able to obtain all my requirements and needs here in France I have infact made one notable exception to the above policy. In view of the pending future European status I became rather concerned as to my ability to still be able to purchase 'HP Sauce' from either Intermarche or LeClerc. With that in mind I ordered and received last month, from the UK, a 4litre catering pack of the stuff. Sorted.  B****t?? Bring it on.
Overnight Johnson has turned the UK into Bongo Bongo Land,
As this is not the first time you've referenced the above terminology on here, here's a heads up regarding your choice of language which I would expect is not exactly acceptable in 2019. Oh, apparently UKIP have even banned the term so it looks as though you could be in good company if you erase it from your vocabulary. By the way which did you vote, Leave or Remain? From Wikipedia: "Bongo Bongo Land" In British English, Bongo Bongo Land (or Bongo-bongo Land) is a "pejorative" term used to refer to Third World countries, particularly in Africa, or to a fictional such country. From Wikipedia: "pejorative" A pejorative (also called a derogatory term,a slur, a term of disparagement) is a word or grammatical form expressing a negative connotation or a low opinion of someone or something, showing a lack of respect for someone or something. It is also used to express criticism, hostility, or disregard. Sometimes, a term is regarded as pejorative in some social or ethnic groups but not in others, or may be originally pejorative and eventually be adopted in a non-pejorative sense (or vice versa) in some or all contexts. Power to the people brother
  14.
I use uBlockOrigin and see the pop-up. However if I click the </> symbol at the bottom of the UBlockOrigin drop-down menu to disable JavaScript on the web site I no longer get the pop-up.
Likewise pomme.  However the 'Reply' function with JavaScript disabled works but to use the 'Quote' function JavaScript needs to be enabled. For lurking I disable JavaScript.
I am a bit hazy on all this political stuff when it gets to parts that the Carlsberg can't reach!
I like that. Seriously though, some one needs to get a grip. It's now 3 years + since the referendum took place and apart from three rejections by the HoC of a negotiated deal the situation has not progressed but remains stagnant. MP's want more time to debate?? Ffs, you've had 3 years. Mp's should have done what they are elected and paid to do in the first place and not passed the decision making process over to the British public. If, when the result of that decision was returned so many of them hadn't balked at the outcome and hadn't adapted a ' we don't like or agree with your decision so we will attempt to derail it' the country would not be where it is today. Given the decision was to leave the EU, BJ has now taken the initiative to inform Brussels that he is prepared to leave on 31st Oct whatever, with or without a deal. To stand any chance of getting both sides back to the negotiating table requires Brussels to accept BJ's proposal and the HoC to cease this unstabling rancour towards the eletorate and to show some form of solidarity. Perhaps, in future, the HoC will think twice before delegating its own responsibilities.
  16.
As to the annoying cookie pop-up then, although I have tried many variations of browser and operating systems, I don't see it at all.
Perhaps it's too cold in Finistere for the 'cookies' to bake properly and rise so as they become visible?
  17.
Four fit, tooled-up "soldiers" - I could have taken them easily.
18.
2. I am still struggling to get my head around the expert comment that a cheap bulk-buy discount-store chalk-paint product can be just as good as an established/more expensive chalk-paint product. Hey-ho.
Discount schmishcount. THIS lady won't give chalk paint house room and I tend to agree with her.
  19.
" the possible snob value of saying one watches on French TV"  and also the fact that I don't have access to ITV...
Oh yes you do. If you use the link I suggested, when you asked for a site that transmited UK tv via t'internet a while back, you could be watching T de F right now live on ITV4.  Here
  20. This Link will take you to Bricomarche - Countances site. Scroll down to below their location map and select  'Nos Services'. The delivery options are there:'Notre Service Livraison'and'Notre Service Livraison Camion Grue' or Visit a LeClerc, Intermarche or Carrefour supermarket as they all appear to have a panel van/ flat-back truck rental facility in store.
  21.
A list of 'scieries bois' in dept 49.
OOps!  49 is your number of posts not your department . What a dork! Anyway, anyone else in 49 need a 'scieries bois' , you've got a link to the list.
  22.
I hate football...even charity matches. But I would have watched paint dry before I'd switch to that debate...
and
Bit like the forum, then when certain people are posting!?
Here's something for Tuesday evening for you both to while away the time.
  23. Until this year we were subject to the 3x annual charge based on the previous year's avis d'impôt. January 15th this year we were charged 1/12 of last years avis and January 16th it was refunded. On the 15th of all the following months a 1/12th has been claimed and, unfortunately, no more refunds. As for 'année blanche', as far as I'm concerned the deductions this year we have been subjected to represent taxation of our 2019 income which in theory makes 2018 a tax free year. The avis d'impôt we receive in August should only reflect a charge on 'income exceptionnel' received in 2018 as declared on this years return filed in May. This should, hopefully, result in only a slight addition to what we have already paid this year to cover the 'income exceptionnel' received in 2018 and not the total income of 2018.
  24.
???? Four people. A mob.
These days 4 people interacting together on Complete France surely constitutes a mob.
