1. Any puppy would be ok as long as your children repects its space, and if you teach your puppy along side your children what is right and wrong things should work out fine, I have only had Dobermanns I bought my 1st when my children were 6yrs 2.5yrs and 6wks old and never had a problem then and haven't since, I have a house fuill at the moment and although they don't see children very often there fine when they do visit because there are rules in place.   Bilclarie
2. Glad to see another Dobermann owner / lover on the forum good luck with your move to France and if you should ever want number 4 please don't hesitate to get in touch I'm often contacted by owners of  Dobes looking for new homes.     Bilclarie

Season

Dogs like humans are all different I've known females to have there first season at 16 months old and as young as 5 months I wouldn't worry to much just yet.

Puppies :-)
yep - she's definitely in season! We've found the "evidence!" I'm keeping her on a tight lead at the moment much to the distain of the local males. I wonder why people don't have their wandering male dogs done? That's very irresponsible too. It's cheaper and easier than the female op.
Well thats good news in one respect as you can now watch her like a hawk and keep her from straying and getting in to trouble, if you are planning on getting her spayed after this season she can be done 3 months after she has finished when bits and pieces are back where they should be and hormon levels should be back to normal.

Puppies :-)

When a female is in season the first sign is usually drops of blood on the floor etc her bit's will also start to swell a female season generally last 21 days and her fretile period is usually around the 12th day to her 14th day but like us they are all different I have had females mated as early as there 9th day and up to there 18th day a season can also go on for as long as 26 days in my own experiences, the best thing you can do is keep checking her rear end with kitchen roll as I do that way if she is due in season you will catch her from day one, males will get interested in a female a couple of days before the season starts. make sure you don't let her out on her own until your sure she's not in season as feamles like males will wonder if given the chance, I do wonder why rescues are allowing females in season to be rehomed or those that are pregnant or those they suspect are pregnant not very responsable IMO.

9.
I know what you mean christine, but they're accidents - being savaged to death by an unnecessary bread of dog isn't, in my book.
So what breed of dog's are unnecessary then? because if you look at it that way they all are so why not destroy every breed / mutt solves the problem.
10. But why should I have to muzzle my dogs in public they have never done any harm to anyone and aren't likely too as they have been brought up properly so my dog's have to suffer because stupid people can't keep there dog's under control I for one am not looking forward to the new laws comming in and I'm not alone in this.
11. The deed should be punished not the breed and the stupid owners of said dog/dog's, I have always owned Dobes and would never consider owning anything else I have never owned or meet a bad Dobe in my 24yrs of owning the breed, meet plenty of bad owner's though who buy a guard breed as an accessory and haven't a clue as to what there buying or how to train / bring them up properly they should sort the idiots out that buy them before they do that way these so called dangerous dog's become less dangerous. And please don't tar all dog's of the same breed with the same brush these pictures where taken after one of our ewes had tripplets on Christmas eve just gone and orphaned one of them and a so called dangerous dog has been taken care of him ever since with the other 4 dangerous dog's that live with me, but you never get to hear about the better side of there charactor

18. Try your local abbatior, the French eat tripe so there's no call for it for the dog food chain like in England.
19.   After a hard day helping Dad with the renovation Merlin thought he'd have a snooze
20. Thankyou I do them once a week from a few day's old it get's them used to having them done and when there older the dremel will be used on them  the same as my adult's
21. Have you tried cat food? Most dog's will eat that and a dog can live on cat food where as a cat can't live on dog food.some dog's like children are fussy eaters it's a case of trial and error and if she prefers human food that fine as long as your adding extra protiens calcium etc, pasta is a good source of food for adding weight mine won't touch pasta unless it has a bit of sauce on it also sardines as they pack on the pounds but not the calories and is good for them. To answer your quiery re vacination's all mine have there yearly booster and it includes parvo so I would assume yours will too
