I have had the same problem trying to transfer money from a Nationwide account to another bank account and would like to thank Danny for his excellent instructions on resolving the problem. I changed the MTU setting for the wifi connection down to 1200 and everything worked brilliantly, thanks again Danny.

Wendy, try leaving the box on with one of the new cards installed. You may find that after 24 hours channel 5 becomes available.

My box is a 2001 vintage grundig, so not quite as old as yours but still getting on.

Martin - thanks for your advice, as you phrophesied the problem has resolved itself today.

Recently I have found that pressing the red button on the sky remote causes the sky box to initially start to load the interactive programmes, then shows a message "searching for listings" and then shows "no satellite signal being received". If I check the signal test all the parameters are normal, the only way to receive TV again is to unplug the sky box and reboot. I have a standard sky box without subscription and blue yellow house card. Has anybody any suggestions please.

Can someone identify this animal found in my cellar today? I assume he is some kind of salamander, he has 4 digits on his front legs. He moves very slowly. My local Champion supermarket sells 20 litre drums of 9.6% Javel for about 12 euros.

I don't think we need to worry, dozens available every day on e-bay.

Thank you Clair for that link, I can see that it is a common green lizard (although it is the first one I have seen in the 7 years we have been in France).

I have just returned from France to England to find the same message displayed on our TV (no satellite signal being received). I would not rule out a faulty sky box as this was what the problem was with ours, using another sky box restored the picture without having to adjust the dish or lnb.

Can anyone please give me a guideline weekly maintenance dosage level using javel 9.6% in a 100 cubic metre pool? Thanks.

I have alice broadband and use a telephone to make free alice calls which is plugged into the alice box. I have also kept the FT line, using a cordless phone with an extra handset. All works well apart from when I receive a call on the FT phone, the alice phone rings as well. This does not happen when the alice phone receives a call - the FT phone does not ring. Is this normal?

Thank you for your replies, after much hassle eventually spoke to an Alice technician who informed me that our adsl connection has not yet been officially activated. Which begs the unanswered question as to how we could connect up to broadband for 4 days before being cut off.......

I received my alice box 4 days ago, and all went well until this morning when the dsl (adsl) light would not light up and I could not connect to the internet. I have tried conntacting alice by telephone and e-mail without success, and unplugging and reconnecting the power supply and resetting the modem have not helped. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Update on flights to Angoulême in today's Charente Libre. The local chambers of commerce have agreed that Brie-Champniers airport should be the base for a budget airline flying to London and will be renamed Angoulême-Cognac airport. The runway will need to be extended by 50 metres at cost of €1.2 million. No news on when flights might start.

There was an article in Charente Libre about this last summer. Ryan Air was hoping to start flights this autumn, the problem I seem to remember was the runway needs extending before Ryan Air could use the airport and no one knew where the money to do this was going to come from. I assume they would fly from Stanstead.

Comparing broadband providers I notice that 9 Telecom. AOL. and Cegetel charge an extra 5 or 7 euros a month as "cout supplementaire sans preselection". Could someone please explain what "sans preselection" means? Thanks in advance. Ray
