1. Slightly different, but............ Went to look at a new King size mattress, and as luck would have it, found the exact thing we needed, on offer, if we took it away that day. Well it was soooooo cheap, I thought even if I have to tie it to he roof of the Rav, it's going home with us!" No problem", says the guy in the shop, "here's he keys to our van, deliver it yourself, just try and get the van back in 30 mins". Nice!
2. It was the policeman from Le Bugue who said the met had had trouble with the ST1100, but I believe they may have been modified. The gearchange problem was the K100 only, and the torque reaction incidents were with the largest boxer engined RTs, it was to do with the torque reaction of the drive shaft to the rear wheel, can't remember which way around it was, but some riders were half way around  a bend, and if in the wrong gear, when they really yanked the throttle open, the torque reaction was pulling them down, somtimes enough for the pegs to ground, and in a few cases, dig in. I suspect  Wings and Guzzis must suffer torque reaction, but the police don't use them, and apprently, you REALLY had to yank the throttle. Have to say I did my advance motorcycle course at Hendon, slow riding on a Triumph Saint, and a Panther 600 single (!!!!!) and then being told to ride 30 miles, losing a point each time we used the brakes, you learned a lot about anticipation that way, but we were always told to be smooth with the throttle, so why a policeman would snap it open like that, I really don't know..........
3.
I'm sorry if you already know it, but it is news to me. Sid
Sorry I didn't mean you Sid, I meant I thogutht this had been sorted out byt the "powers that be", but those wheels do grind slowly!!!
4. I thought this had been done and dusted, both the ST1100 and the 1300 have proved very very unstable. There's a policeman friend of mine who lives in Le Bugue, who was telling me they had been told to be extremely careful with them, three years ago!!!!!! It's not the first time either, the police had problems with the K100 BMW, if the rider tried to select top gear when it was already in it, it drop to first, and locked the wheel, that and some couldn't get used to the torque reaction of the shaft drive and a few were spat off........
5. But didn't he get caught by one of his own cameras, and was never prosecuted?
6. Having seen what this idiot has done in the past, I sadly can believe he did it. And people ask me why I want to move to France!!
7. here's one to go on with http://www.guitarattack.com/saga/sagasagas.htm Saga is an American kit, and from reports, not as good, but there are some nice ones there..........
8. You don't hang about!!!!! There's a couple of good sites with finishing tips etc let me know if you'd like the links. I expect pictures of the build and the finished article!!!
9. Well the one in the box doesn't sound too good!! The blue one, my son "borrowed" (never saw it again!) and even without changing anything it played really well, had the proper Tele twang. I did one for a mate, and changed tuners and bridge (he wanted a humbucker at the bridge) it it was at the better end of copy range, but not Fender!
10.
I take it that is a kit, may I ask where from and how much? I got rid of my Tele (copy) when my left wrist gave up, and I've always missed it. Not that I can play worth a damn, but it was a lovely guitar to play.
What about learning bottle neck instead? I don't play well, only what I was taught when I worked in the music industry, but if your having fun, does it matter!!!
11. 65 quid ebay.co.uk!!   but the Music King do them as well, http://www.themusicking.co.uk/products.php?cat=57&nav=12 for £69. The wood is good the neck, excellent, but some of the fittings leave a bit to be desired, but I picked up a pukka three saddle tele bridge (Fender) for £8.00, again, Ebay, where I have also sourced and purchased very resonably a copper shielding kit, Esquire type pick gaurd, seymour duncan bridge pick up, and some gotoh tuners, all up with out the paint, it stands me in at less than £75. I'm going to do it as an Esquire (single bridge pick up). You'll also find bass kits, a Les Paul, Strat, and a PRS kit on the above link, and they are threatening an SG (which I'll have to do, but as a junior!!!). Sadly for me my birthday is Christmas day, so I'm going to have to wait anyway!!!
12. A real shot in the dark here, but this is my new project as I felt like a change form motorbikes and model boats etc which arrived today The last one I did turned out ok but I wonderd if anyone else "mucked about" with guitars, and I'm looking for suggestions for what colours to do it............
13. I always wanted one of those!! I first saw one in Japan (and the later CB1300), and liked it so much, when I got home contacted Honda to ask when it was going to be available in the UK. "It's not"  they said, and both times I went off and brought something else, only to see my dream bike on the road months later. Bob, now I know I have a bike thief living near me!!!!
14. I always sort of liked the shape (apart from the front/headlight area) and without it's design, one wonders if we would have had the CB1000 and 600s? But much the same, this one was offered to me for very silly money, and once I had ridden it, as you say, I was converted. I always avoided Ducatis (like I do most thngs that are hyped) but as soon as I had covered the first 5 miles I knew what I had been missing!!
15. I have been told that once my leg has healed, I am going to have trouble lifting my dear old Ducati off the stand, and that I might consider getting something different. My thoughts have drifted  to a smaller, lighter piece of fun, something like a CB400RR (either mine Blade or NC30). Whats the chances of succes in a straight swap (the Duke is worth £1800ish), either with a Brit' or a Frenchman, and how would I go about an exchange rather than a sale? (I have already thought about the local clubs and the supermarket noticeboards) Ta muchly.......
16. "I have a ducati 750ss currently in UK, but I'm hoping to get it here soon, I've heard stories about difficulties with old dukes, is it as straightforward as all other bikes?" My paso is 1996 (I think), and it's proving easier than I thought, thanks to Bob T, it seems it's one of those things that seems daunting, till you do it!!
17. I suppose if you caught any children you could throw them back?
18. Bob, you can't pull my leg, I still have 6 weeks in plaster!! It does sound nice, but would benefit from a set of Conti silencers. One day!
19. Get there quickly, but to get home you need at least eight people, one with a lap top and the right software, maybe a mine would be better!
20. Most ugly Ducati rider!!! It is quite old now (the bike!), way before the beauty that is a 916, but in the flesh it isn't as bad, honest.
21. Got the panels back on, just the starter and insurance to go, oh and a healthy leg...........
