If we both drink Chardonnay, together (not a blend with any other grape) we always end up sticking on a few Beatles records & having a fight (usually over the old story of "is John a better singer than Paul?)!!
I think John is a better singer than the present Paul, but was about as good as the original Paul[geek]
It's funny ..... sober, I know it's Paul ....... but after a few drinks, I tend to get a little emotional & lean towards John!!
Nah...........the imposter Paul never could sing, or write songs. All IMHO, of course. Now the original Paul was a different kettle of fish........
 2. Something similar brought Boston Mass. to a standstill last week. Again, the head of advertising was arrested. It makes you wonder what goes through their tiny minds........
 3.
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_warnings.html   It's sunny here.......................................................[:)]
Here too, (north midlands, UK). VERY cold though, -8 degrees last night. Sheltered areas aren't thawing during the day.
 4.
hi thanks for your help just hope the nest is empty when we return this month ( we'll leave the blow torch at home)
I removed a large-ish wasp's nest from a friend's roofspace in the UK by sliding a binliner over it, holding it at the "neck" end, and sawing through the nest-fixing with a breadknife. My mate stood behind me and sprayed any wasps that entered/exited as I closed the bag. The nest was active at the time, although it WAS dusk. We tied the bag shut, took it a few miles away, and opened it, standing well back. Mate then blocked the entrance to the nest site. Neither of us got stung. Your nest is PROBABLY empty, but use the above method, you'll be OK. Also, do it after dusk, they are all in that's going in then[;-)]
 5.
No you can't. Each circuit has to have its own earth running along the same path as the phase and neutral for that circuit. Also make sure you are using the correct diametre conduit. There are regulations for the number of wires and wire guages allowed down each conduit.
Yeah, the conduit wasn't the problem, it was the VERY unflexible French single cored cables! They would keep twisting around each other, and so increasing the amount of space needed.
 6.
I used to have one of those, red and cream. Lovely car, but I wrecked it...
Accident? Mine was sold to finance my next beast, which I only had 8 months before swapping it for an Escort 1100 Deluxe. I wouldn't have wanted to see the base model if mine was "deluxe": no carpets, horrid plastic seats, no radio, speedo and fuel gauge only, etc.....[:(] Cheap to insure, though.
 7. Well, I've mastered downloading to the computer, and the profile only had one space for avatar, so I just did what seemed sensible....................and as a FIRST in computing, IT WORKED! And no massage came up asking me if I was sure[:P]
 8.
Save the picture on your pc. Go into your profile, click 'browse', find your picture and click and voila, it will appear and it will be the right size. sorted.
Aha.............Done it! AND it's the right colour!!![:D]
 9.
Ford Anglia, I have attached a photo for you which you can use as your avatar if you wish.............
I learned to drive in one, then owned a "B" registered one for two years. It was flat out and screaming at 80mph, and ran on 4 remoulds about as wide as mountain bike tyres. Thanks for the avatar, but mine was one of those with "fins" and a sloping inwards rear window. <<Runs off to google to find a photo of one>> <<Then returns to ask how to add it as an avatar[:$]>> The last photo I put onto another site was so HYOOOGE the page went weird and no-one could see it. Funny, it looked OK on Google.[:(]
 10. Here in the UK, I've got Bluetits building what appears to be a nest, and Robin, Blacky, Bluetit, Blackcap (I think), and Songthrush are all singing their hearts out.
 11. According to my book, and to ChrisP on here, wasps and hornets don't overwinter. Your nest MAY be defunct, and all it's population, dead. Now me,  I'd go and test that theory if it were wasps, but hornets............?[Www] Hmmmmm[I] Might be worth asking at the mairie. Better looking stupid than like Quasimodo when you're badly stung[;-)]
 12.
I'd forgotten! I'll get it done in the next day or two....life's somewhat hectic the proverbial stuff seems to have hit the fan!
There isn't even a fan IN my chainsaw...........(is there??), and I draw the line at cleaning the proverbial stuff off anything but myself, thanks[Www]
 13. Just a question asked me by my wife, when I was last over there, struggling to bend 6 single core cables round a tight bend in a conduit. They were LN&E for lighting and sockets. They later pass into a larger junction box, where the lighting goes one way, and the socket wiring the other. Wife asked me why I didn't attach to lighting EARTH to the socket earth at the large junction box, and only have FIVE cables back to the distribution board? I had no real answer. At the time, I was nearly there, so I continued doing it as I've described at the top of the post. The recent post about "sharing lighting and socket wiring", brought the memory back. IS it something that is a complete no-no? If so, why?
 14.
toilet is on its own no other items sharing the waste pipe. I'm beginning to think the seal on the waste pipe must be the problem! dc
Sounds as if it is. Time to remove any covers and have a good look? I've always found soft loo paper, or paper towel, good for finding even the smallest weep[;-)]

 16. Wouldn't like to be around when Two-Jags Prezza started jumping[blink]
 17. Is the promised thread on maintenance and cleaning of chainsaws, anywhere near? Thanks.
 18. Of all the stuff I've bought for our property, the ONLY thing that didn't have instructions in English, was the chainsaw................which also happened to be the only thing I really needed instructions for[:(] Stihl sent me some when I contacted them. Has anyone else had an electrical item with what looks like a standard UK plug on it, but when you undo the screw, it comes apart and has a moulded on two pin European one inside it? Excellent design.
 19.
They sound huge, that must be very scary, at least it would be for me. [:)] Stacey, it is something that has always fascinated me, it must be an amazing experience to work with these wonderful birds. I didn't realise Milandes had this sort of thing, I have never been there so after Hoddy's comment will definitely go this summer.
I've seen this display twice, it's excellent. They fly an Eagle Owl too. Oh, and Milandes is well worth a visit..........if a little sad when you get to the end[:(]
 20. I'm no expert, so I'm not even going to try and comment on maximum lengths. I have some runs of over 15m of 2.5mm sq in my barn conversion, and the same for 1.5mm sq. As for running lights and sockets off the same supply: you're not supposed to do it because of the different current draw from each, which means that each SHOULD have it's own dedicated MCB, IIRC 10A for lighting and16A or 20A for sockets. Don't take the current ratings as gospel, my books for this are in France, and I'm in the UK. Have you thought of running a conduit, then putting single core cables in, one set for sockets, one for lights? You could then T off for either at suitable junction boxes.
 21. Sony tuner and Linn turntable as part of a HiFi seperates system, around 30 years old. The rest is 19!
 22. TS15 9EJ I've got the pic saved if you can't find it.
 23.
Ford Anglia.Your pal was very lucky he didn't end up in clink. A German chap who eventually bought a house off us mucked us about so much with the deposit, that I said if it's not received by the Bank on Monday, forget it, we'll go with the other offer. He drove into France from Germany with a large amount of cash and tried to pay it into a branch of our bank. They wouldn't take it and gave him a very difficult time.He had to go back to his bank in Germany, pay the cash back in and get a bankers draft, then drive back into France and pay it in. Just in time. Mind you, as he designs traffic flow systems,I don't suppose he thinks the same as the rest of us, or with any urgency. Regards. 5 mins St.Malo
Yes, he got a hard time trying to open an account[;-)] It got even harder, since he's the sort of guy who tries to think what can go wrong in any given situation, then what he can do to avoid it. This led to him having thought out all the questions the bank might ask, and also all the documentation they might ask FOR, and having the answers/documents to hand. Unfortunately for him the bank manager was even MORE suspicious at his instant answers[blink] It took over an hour to open the account, but all was sorted in the end.
 24. OK, I'll bite..........WHY would anyone WANT a silencer?[8-)]
 25. http://www.outiror.fr/catalogue/detail_produit.php?id=24 Is that electric one going for €74.99, ? Wow, where can I get one? Oh and fibreglass handles? Mine WILL NOT retain the splitter head, it constantly slides down the handle.[:@] I've finally knocked it into place and retained it with a small self-tapper.
