1. That was what I though, but the bit that confused me was asking me to include my husbands tax bill, ours always comes on one piece of paper. OOOh , I wonder if they are giving me something, [Www]I do not qualify for unemplyment benefit, I just registered with them as ANPE needed me to to register with them[geek] thanks
2. I have received a form to fill in by ASSEDIC ( I am registered as unemployed) I have filled all the infor they ask for but thay also ask for my last " Avis d'imposition "  I assumed they wanted a copy of the latest tax bill, but it says if I am married/co habiting then include theirs too!  So what is it they are asking for please?
3. You get a little booklet/paper when you buy the bike, it has the chassis no on it. Take it to your insurance and they will take the details off it.

How sad is this, like the majority of people my hubby has a very diverse taste in music. I wouldn't say he is a fan, but does like Gilbert O'Sullivan. Memories have just come flooding back and my heart rate actualy quickened for a moment there when missyesbut and Twinkle mentioned naming their chilren after their favorites. You guessed it, he wanted to name our baby Gilbert if it was a boy, I had nightmares near the end of my pregnancy and kept trying to come up with better names!
Gilbert is a brilliant name...  I once had a pet stick insect called this[;-)]
A good strong name , my husband said. He would have to be with a name like that!
5. When I took my youngest to the Optician he only did a very basic test. When I went to the desk to pay I noticed there was a price list on the wall behind. I couldn't read the full details as I am as blind as a bat even with glasses. But some of the rates I noticed were a vaste difference in price and can only assume that if you want the full monty that you get as standard in the UK you will be paying top prices. I have an appointment for my other daughter in a few weeks and will make sure I ask for a full exam. I have often wondered about buying over the internet, as you say , you see a frame in the shop try it on and whip it off quicky again as the shape doesn't suit even though it is not too different from the one you currently wear.
6. My husband got through Ryanair ticket desk check in with just his Carte sejour without any problem(france-UK) but when he got to security they insisted on his passport, which he had. If you are planing a ferry trip to the UK , why not phone the port and ask, you have nothing to loose.

8.
Before Dick sees this post, John,  I'll just whisper that "theirs" never has an apostrophe!  And while you're at it, you ought to pop another L in Hallowe'en too... [;-)] Angela   EDIT I tried to put this in a really small font (for a whisper), but it came out the normal size...  Sorry.
And it is Calendar !

10. That realy is bobbins! I shall have to do some searches now for a better deal, as J.R said , this was aimed at low users.
11.
Funniest thing was that when she contacted the department for her pension, she discovered that he hadn't declared her for forty years....Well, I sniggered.  Just over 100€ a month she gets.  Not that she needs the money, of course.  My FIL was so organised I can't believe he would leave chaos behind him like he did.  Thank goodness for the family accountant.
That same situation happened to a neighbour of ours, He died  and when all his affaires were sorted out, she wasn't in the system either! Do women really sit back and let their other halves do all the paperwork,  No one would be able to decipher it if my hubby put his scrawl to it! It sure as heck doesn't happen in this house, my children walk out of the room when they hear me clicking open ring binders.........they know there will be no room for them with paperwork all over the floor and other half retreats to the garage ,coming back only to check the figures add up.

13. I tried the Geoportail  one of my village, it was ok for the village view, but not very clear when I tried to zoom in for my house, even I could hardly spot it. Its not that small , honest[blink]
14. According to my neighbour, just slice them, lay them out on kitchen roll/baking parchment with newspaper underneath on a tray. do not let any of them touch or overlap  If you have an airing cuboard , place them in there overnight, or leave them in a warm area of the house untill they are dry . store them in jars. apparently they have more flavour this way. I have got the bug now, off out in a while when the dew dries off.
15. My daughter was bored yesterday as her friend had gone to stay with her dad for the weekend, so we decided we would go and see the horses in a field about a mile away. We took a bag and some windfall apples for them and set off. Whilst walking she asked if there would be any blackberries left to pick( there wern't) we passed through an orchard and went to see if the figs were ripe (another week or more maybe) we got th the horses paddock, they were out on a treck, thoroughly fed up as everything she wanted to see or do hadn't been available we set off home a different way.  There is a canal with a bridge so we played poo sticks and then carried on walking,   "MUSROOMS!"  yelled my daughter, I have not got a clue what is good or not but I said we could pick them and ask our elderly neighbour when we got home. Pierette picked through them, she thew away a red one(not poisonous she said , just not nice to eat) a pure white one(same reason) and told us we had struck gold ,we had nearly a kilo of Cepes. So some of them went with last nights meal of boudin noir, tinned peeled tomato and toast. The rest will be dried, as per Pierettes instructions, for use later! I never thought a mushroom could taste soooo good!
16. The price is set to rise again for renewal in the UK and I assume that will mean they will be in France too.
17. go to the place where you insure your car/house etc and yes les Anglais can buy a non plated bike .

19. That photo of the men is horrible ! where is their hair ? and look at the one on the left, pale,  smooth and yuk as Diva Star said. I roo always had the impression that Sloggis were BIGGER, now put a man in a good pair of jockeys and whey hey[kiss]
20. You can stop singing now , its is my turn, ........ with the blue blue skies and all that I see is just another lemon tree...
21. I did earlier in the year and got a pretty decent crop off each but then I am new to this gardening lark and at the moment it is trial and error. I was talking with the old man the other day who has a potager next to mine, I was asking him what he was planting. nothing yet apart from onions and salad he said, so I asked him about Feves as I have bought some en vrac, no instructions on how to plant etc. His reply was to plant them on the 11 october and petit pois on the 15 th November, so I presume he is planting by the moon too. I shall ask him about planting them in rows next to each other, I did a search on the internet a while ago to about crop rotation but do not remember anything about planting beans and peas close by.
22. It is driving me mad, I have got that song in my head. Near the end of the programme last night , Cyril had that yellow diner/bus and there was a record playing  " all that I see is just another lemon tree"  who did that  and real song name please?
23.

I feel that as far as I am concerned, both of them are teaching grandma to suck eggs. It is basic common sence, eat a varied and fresh food diet , cook it properly and you cannot go wrong!  Why do people buy convenience food? It is buerk taste wise and take a peep on the label, monosodeum  glutomate in pre prepared seafood salad, why?
First answer, I guess that not everyone does know about or do that - simply saying that people are dumb doesn't make them smarter; and as far as convenience foods go the clue is in the name. Not sure what buerk tastes of (is it that canned whale meat?), but monosodium glutamate is used to provide umami and to enhance flavours. It occurs naturally as well as a food additive, so I've never been sure of what the objection to it actually is.
I suppose I walked into that answer. Surely by now people have  got the message, after all there must be a cookery program on everyday of the week , adverts and even the supermarkets have banners telling us all we should eat 5 fruits/veg a day, or is it 7 in France?   Convenience food, If we are meaning baked beans on toast, great I'll join you, but if we are choosing frozen lasagne I could cook and bake one from scratch in the time it would take to wait for one of those things to defrost and cook and it would be cheaper as I am sure I wouldn't find one big enough to feed a family. So where did I learn to cook, the same place as lots of other ordinary people, at school, at home (though not the lasagne, no garlic in my mothers kitchen) watching cookery programmes and of course recipe books. For buerk, read yuk! my objection to monosudium glutamate is it gives me a headache, so I do read the labels on things such as crisps and pre prepared foods or anything new I fancy trying.  I do occassionaly fall into the trap of buying 'convenience ' or 'fast food'  and always say after that I wish I had made my own as I hadn't enjoyed them!   Cyril last night, I felt that the staff in the kitchen wanted an easy life. As Alexis said, what on earth did they do all morning if they started work at 6 am to prepare a meal that they were only heating up? they must have had the best jobs in france until Cyril put them through their paces. That singing  African assistant seemed horified that he wanted her to prepare fresh veg and salad and Cyrils face was a picture when he watched the canteen chef add anything into that huge pan of what was supposed to be Bourginon. Even the students looked wary when they couldn't spot chips and roast chicken on the hot plate.  He certainly changed their tune though as by the end of the week their were hardly any plates with food being scraped into the swill bin. As to the salad bar that was in the other Cantine, my daughter would not be getting an evening meal if I knew her cantine served up a stunning menu like that as I know she would pile her plate high. Those students he targeted in the fast food outlets realy did look ill when he showed them the % of sugar and fats etc that were in their burgers, frites and kebabs. I must admit I was taken aback at the amount of oils etc that they contain when shown in liquid quantity.
24. I have seen them both, Jamie I would say is more big headed and mouthed than Cyril, jamie did home made chicken nuggets and introduced veg the brit kids didn't even recognise, Cyril did  homemade mash and pureed carrot amongst other things, the adults loved it but the children(who it was made for ) didn't. Can't wait for tonight, lets see how the teens react .
25. We asked at our branch of Caisse d'Epargne how much they would charge to receive and enchange funds from our Brit bank, after some thought the Manager said we would probably be better off flying Ryanair, withdrawing the cash and going to the Exchange office in Spain!  the amout was roughly £25.000[blink] Could you imagine having your bag searched at stanstead, and if you got that far slapping that amount on the counter and asking for a bag of Euros, If you wern't rear ended on the motorway back you would then have to buypass the cashier at the local bank. We used our brains and Moneycorp instead, oh and the transfer went to CA , cannot remember the charge but it was next to nothing.
