Hi Kingshaw thanks for that I tried my best but my french reading not being very good made it a tad awkward ,I think your quite a distance from mmm lets say alencon (30 mins from us) so I guess transport cost could be quite a bit and viewing would be a problem ,would'nt it? anyway thanks again Eddy

hiya we are (wife and I) buying very soon ,signing on monday week and this inheritance thing is a bit of a worry to us to say the least, we are second time marriages both have two kids each (grown up one's) we want to leave the property to who ever lives the longest to do as they wish i,e sell and return to uk or stay in france . I read that the tontine is changing to enable the surviver to inherit the property without the tax problems ,anyone know if this is so? if that is the case then change of marital regime (C/U) would not be the best option ,any idea's ? Also we want to start a business very soon, just the two of us no employees, running a carp fishery.

Renting out your house in the UK
thetwoofus replied to Athene's topic in Finding/Owning French Property
Hi while your on the subject of renting in U/K ... we are selling our house (offers in and ball rolling}what we are looking for is somewhere to rent in Dover area or at least south kent untill we find a property in France .Our furniture is going into storage so furnished property is better for us, we'll carry on working over here and then trip over weekends, so if anyone knows anyone or someone who has anything to rent we 'd like to hear from them ,,thankyou -
so how does this fit,,,, wife and I each have two older kids each from previous marriages, so far so good,,,,I was a widower when we meet ,,,,and she was divorced, ok now, so we got married and a few years down the line we divorced and split. some time later we got back together and remarried ,,,, phew,,, now we want to live in france and start a business ,we are thinking C/U has to be the best way to go . but is it ???? I dunno ,,wad ya rekon.... I thankyou

Furniture - Move it or buy a new lot?
thetwoofus replied to Albert the infopikey's topic in Finding/Owning French Property
Hello As a matter of interest on furniture etc what of storage companies we are in Herts and intend putting ours into storage, any comments on this subject?. We intend to take almost all our furniture with us whether we do it ourselves or get a company to do it I'm not sure as yet, have to estimate costs etc and the time factor. Im an hgv driver so size of vehicle is no problem just the aggro of returning the vehicle to uk .Idealy we would like to find a storage Co in the south east(kent area) just make things easier. -
hi that sounds good to me chessfou we have no plans for this cash exactly, just probably use is as supplement to income so to speak. This is not a wind up as gardian thinks it maybe, I just wondered thats all
-
Thanks Gardian that sounds cushty was you refering to interest from the bank ? only money from uk would be the pension £270 a month. swift reply thanks

Hi all We are in the process of selling our house and all being well shall be looking for a place in France in the course of the year. So I am looking into money transfers , I am intending to use hifx for the bulk of cash, but I have a pension albeit a small one payed monthly into my barclays account, and is tax free, so I am wondering how I would go about getting that cash over to france and what if any tax implications are there. could I just get barclays to pay it to hifx by dd and then transer over to french bank ? Not being fluent on the financial things I thought I'd ask on here first ,,,cos I know your all so clever bit of crawling never hurt anyone just the knee's

Hiya Cement will eventually eat through the pipes as will lime mortar. you just have to wrap them if cementing over, either in plastic tape or (if the depth is there ) lagging .I dunno about France but here (u.k) you can buy artificial beams ( polystyrene ones) think they have hollow backs . Could be just right ???
-
Hi you can exchange up to £3000 in the post office and no charges are made(on line) not alot of people know that
-
Hi Benjamin I think your right, I've been intouch with Tee France today and they are sending details etc incidentally I got them from French property news. We shall give them a go and keep our fingers crossed it's not wasted time and money, would be a lot more cash wasted if we got it wrong . Will let you know how it goes live long and prosper

Hi We both have two kids each(grown up) from previous marriages I am actually a widower ,does that make any differance ? and we are married we shall be looking to set up a company in france and become resident no attachments to the u/k at all other then the families, ie, properties etc. The main reason I had Tee France in mind was because they have a French barrister on there books , obviously we dont want to waste our money but do need some advice with regards inheritance issues/taxes/company set up etc. Could anyone recommend a uk based accountant perhaps ,I guess it is'nt a problem where in the uk ( herts/nth London area would be better). It's all about finding the right channels to go down and getting the right advice ,we dont want to kick off on the wrong foot as Im sure you've all been in the position we are in now , do we, dont we situation but all the time really wanting to. It will be a whole new way of life for us albeit a scary one to start

Hi well ok lets see , Inheritance seems to be the biggest stumbling block , if I set up a company in france myself and wife have equal shares(ie directors) in the company ,property etc owned by the company. When one of either dies could the surviver become sole director thus giving them the choice to stay or sell up and that way avoiding the inheritance problems or the sole survivor could hand over directorship to the hiers . Would this then be subject to inheritance taxes ? I have read on here that micro bic is one of the best ways to go if you dont expect to make bundles of money ( I wish) and that a course has to be attended for certain businesses , would that apply to a fishery business? One other thought just came to mind how would I buy a property in the name of the company when the business wont exist untill we have found the property. ( I hope this makes some kind of sense ).At the end of the day it all boils down to the surviving spouse being able to remain or sell up and return to the u/k should they choose Then there's money exchange ,how does that work (although I guess an easy answer to this is to ring them) charges made and who is the best, I hear moneycorp(I think it's called) is a good bet. As I dont wish to bore the pants off anyone (as if I aint already ha ha ) I'll stop at that thankyou everyone

Hi Cassis Near enough's good enough[:D] what we was looking for was advice really and as we are not sure of what area in France we shall be locating too a notaire maybe not the best option at this point and besides we are here and they are in France ,long way to go just for a chat. Before you say look on here we have read so many threads and still not sure whats what, always seems to be a conflict of opinions, ever decreasing circles as they say, not knocking the forums I find them very interesting. guess I'm just a fussy old hector regards : you know who

Hi Nick Not exactly tee france are a firm of lawyers( with resident french lawyer) and advise on the whole ball of wax so to speak, doing the legal stuff for the purchase and inheritance issues etc.On thier team they have a guy named Charles Davey who is the author of "Buying property in France" (no plug for the book or firm intended) I concur that buying through a u/k estate agent would be a little fool hardy and open to being ripped off so we wont go down that road . thnaks Thanks even
-
Hi all "Buy with confidence" or so the add say's , has anyone used Tee france for guidance and purchase for thier dream property, (good or bad ) ? ? They are local to us so seems the best place to start (Hertfordshire) if anyone can recommend a company we'd appreciate it, Thanks

Hello all I was just surfing around and came across www.halfpercent.com has anyone ever used them to sell a u/k property. just wondered??
-
hello again your words are good Anton made sense to me,thanks shall be adding it to my collection ....I've had a look at that web site Mark (many times ) been on the market for quite a while. Bit to far down for us and If I remember rightly the house is about half a mile down the road, not a good situation, I dont understand the situation there the guys set it all up and now decides he has to return to the u/k because his/her mother is not well(would you )but what has to be done has to be done I guess. Thanks for thinking of us though
