1. Cheers  krusty - I've only just started to research this whole area and there is just so much info about it takes an age to digest. I had actually seen these units in Chateauroux recently but assumed (wrongly) that they were simply air con units. Is there a limit for the distance from the outside unit to the inside unit. For example, (assuming I wanted to install a BiSplit unit as described by Quillan in the other thread) to heat 2 rooms, 1 in front of the other - front to back, will the room furthest away from the outside unit suffer a lot in terms of less heat going to the room. If not, then is there any sense in searching for a bigger unit that would cater for say four rooms. I also note that these units dehimidify. I take it that a drain kit is required too. Wow - loads of questions - sorry [:$]
2. Quillan - do you have any details of the actual air pumps and prices etc. Any information would be gratefully appreciated.
3.
The WC this year was interesting for us, as our neighbours are also from NI. So we had the French around us for France, my wife and I for Australia, my wife and I for England (one of the perks of dual nationality) and our neighbour for Ireland. And of course non of us won!
Just about says it all. I bet living in Oz, immediately after RWC 2003 final, was pure magic.
4. Oh no not a Toffee [;-)].  I will, privately of course, admit to having grown up in the Boys Pen and then the Kop. That was a long time ago. I wholly agree with your current assessment of soccer. It has no appeal for me like it did in the early to mid 70's especially derby's in Merseyside. Brilliant matches and brilliant banter. Thats all gone now as you say. Fortunately I had rugby to replace soccer and I'm still passionate about it although its slowly heading in the same direction as soccer. I cannot understand why the English squad, for more than 15 years or more, has been so devoid of results given its talent. The problem is money and greed I guess which is crass and no example for the youngsters but hey - C'est la vie - I suppose. AS an avid irish rugby supporter I took much abuse having put a tenner on England to win the RWC in 2003. I knew in my heart (now thats some admisssion from an Irishman) that they'd do it. They played the right tactics, they had a passion that if you could tap would produce electricity and a true blue bulldog pride that made a 16th player on the pitch. Woodward knew their strengths - Johnston knew them too and they both drove a reasonable team to do the business and they deserved it. Yes they had luck but they had much much more than that. They had pride, passion and balls. As far as being a colourist - surely you can get help for that - [:D] - Good luck to you and keep up the craic - Cheers
5.
Sport is about inches, tropheys are won and lost on it. Just that extra bit of luck at the right time can put a team an inch ahead
Absolutely Richard - I couldnt agree with you more. Sport, especially at that level, is about the thousands of hours or practice, training, testing and all that is required to become one of the best. Your team, or your back office crew or your trainers give up as many hours and the whole thing can be lost, or gained, on something totally outside of your control such as Glock and the 14.4 second slower last lap. We'll question it forever. But Massa is a sportsman, and based on his actions post race he is a fine man too but the pain on his face and those guys in the pit was, for real sports people, just about the hardest thing to watch. It was agony. I have no doubt that there are things that happen inside F1 that defy belief or comprehension but that can be said about many sports but the sports people inside these sports just get on with the sport. Regarding, Gazza, I agree he had passion when he pulled on the England shirt. But you must equally admit that during the 90's, and even post millennium, with the level of major talent in the English camp they have been pretty dire and one aspect of this, IMHO, is a great lack of passion for both the shirt, the honour of player for their country and a burning desire to do both pride. Any lack of luck they might have had pales into insignificance thereafter.
6. Ah - I see - near xenophobia bundled together with a touch of paranoia.
As for the Ferrari team, they seemed to have FIA on their side for many decisions, especially regarding Hamilton's penalty points this season
For dear sake Richard - behave yourself. But you get better with
1990 world cup semi final against Germany and 1996 Euro cup semi against the same team. Tim Henman throughout his Wimbledon career. The England rugby team last September with the try that never was
To coin a phrase from a real tennis champion - "you cannot be serious" - Tim Henman - catch a grip of yourself. If he is the best that England can, have or will produce then forget it. As for the 1990 soccer squad the entire 90's soccer squad must rate as the best example of quailty failure. With some of the greatest names in world soccer in that squad and they couldnt win against a Vauxhall Conference team. Luck - they didnt need luck they needed passion and pride and they didnt have one ounce of it between them. But you finish it off with the best of them all regarding the RWC. Didnt you read the official full match reports or even your own captains post match interview in which he accepted the decision was correct. Vickery at least has some sense in him - unlike others around here [:(]
7.
Seeing the looks on Ferrari's faces was absolutely hilarious. For 20 seconds they thought they had it, and then when they realised Lewis had taken Glock to take 5th, absolutely priceless. Best race I've ever seen. Justice has been done and it's about time an Englishman had some luck when it really counted. Well done Lewis.
Dont some posts just kill off a decent thread. What kind of numbnut finds the passion and pain on the Ferrari's teams faces hilarious? Any normal human being's heart went out to Massa and his crew. Then we have a silly wee, near xenophobic, rant about Englishmen and luck. For dear sake catch yourself on.   Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton on his championship. Ultimately deserved I believe.
8. No doubt I'll get lambasted for this but - French accountancy practices are governed by a very different set of regulations than those in Ireland/UK. The Irish/UK accountant is both employed by you and working strictly for you. From my research and discussions the French accountant will simply deliver a set of prepared accounts for you and offer little, if any, advice on how to reduce your income/earnings which will ultimately be subject to cotisations and appropriate taxes. under MicroBic you simply declare your total turnover and the appropriate agencies determine your liability to cotisation and appropriate taxes. There are formulae for determining this yourself prior to declaration The 2 main Chambres (Chambre de Commerce and Chambre des Metiers) will, normally, urge you to adopt the MicroEnterprise system - they certainly did when I registered with both and many of those with whom I have come into contact with would agree. If your earnings are going to be equal to or less than the MicroBic limits, for many this system is possibly better. It is my understanding from the many French Artisans Individuels with whom I have worked that the vast majority of them are registered for the MicroBic system. This begs the question - WHY and who benefits. I doubt you'll need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. As with everything that falls into the fiscal arena - you need to tread carefully and with as complete a knowledge bank as possible. This is not as easy as it sounds. But I wish you good luck.
9. To assume that someone would come on to this forum and deliver an open minded and fair view of the current financial crisis would, of course, be Utopian. United delivers one of the worst cases of one sideness I have ever seen. As allanb and ErnieY have already exposed glarring weakness or inaccuracies in United's delivery. The banks, with whom I have had very close relationships over a 25 year period in Financial Services, have to a very large degree, been allowed to run ahead virtually unchecked. The decisions to lend were, generally, based on ability to repay, sufficient assets to secure the loan, credit worthiness and ultimately the earning potential for the bank, the individual and the shareholders. It is, IMHO, this last aspect which (as in any equivalent situation) produces the weakness and greed which we all have witnessed over the past 10 - 15 years. The shareholder is king and is the ultimate driver of banking operation especially when you consider how little regulation (either direct or self) there has actually been in the banking world. Yes government policies have influence but I feel that the shareholders have as much a responsibility for the current fiasco than your Prime Minister.
10. I have one of these also and I rod my flu every 6 weeks or so. I rod from bottom up and I know that as the 6th rod comes to the fire door I'm almost there. The brush then hits the upper section, which is fixed with the double sided tape, and I know to stop pushing. There is no need to clamber up onto the roof to rod your flu, assuming that you intend to clean it with rods and brushes.
11. Evening raindog - I didnt get to see it but had texts from my auld mates from the touchline and they were in pieces with despair. In truth, with a new coach and major team member changes this year is already probably written off as development year. That said, there are some gifted guys in the team so hope is still there. God amd Matt Williams willing.
12. Poor auld ref's. They are damned if they do and damned if they dont. Shame on you raindog  [;-)] I went to Toulouse in Jan last year for the Ulster match (the infamous match when Brennan came into the crowd and smashed the jaw of an Ulster supporter) and I must say that the atmosphere inside the stade was superb. The banter between supporters was excellent and the appreciation of opposition play was great too. We had a brilliant weekend there (despite the above mentioned episode). Time will tell, but I still believe it'll be down to the old favourites as always.
13. Evening plod (he who knows what hes tawkin about) - I dont think this years Heiny is a clear cut thing. With all the imports and so on there will be more Sale type upsets. MUnster will fall on their own sword for example. They showed this weekend how dark it is where their heads are!!!! I actually suspect that it'll be a French side and possibly Toulouse or Stade Francais. The Glaws are always a decent 1/2 outside bet and Tigers. Quins and Ospreys are all worth a punt but................ ULSTER for the cup - Stand Up For The Ulstermen - Stand Up For The Ulstermen God I wish ...............
14. A big congrats to you and l'equipe. Sounds like a great way to play golf. The course is about 1 20mins from me so I guess its not going to be high on my "must visit list".
15. http://fleole.ffgolf.org/golf/ficgol01.htm?num_golf=0422&st=0 I'm sure there is a neater way of showing a hyperlink but this is all I could find.
16. Evening Paul - This is near Chateauroux which is about an hour from me. I will be very interested to hear how you get on. It seems good value too. Have a good time and nothing more than a 6 on your card. I dont like their web site - I was dizzy after looking at it.
17. Ah plod Fans Forums are dangerous places also. 2 million opinions about the same thing. What upset me about the Tigers win was that you guys let the lazy queen (one Mr Geordan - I cant pass to the wing - Murphy) score a try that made him look good. Aaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhh. He's about as much use as an ashtray on a Honda step thru 50. Then with a new SHED and a new hooker - sure you'll not want to know us poor folk. [;-)]
18. Cheers raindog. Plod - will the Glaws go all the way this year - Nah seriously [;-)]
19.
Talking to a mate last night about The New Rules. If different nations are using different watered down versions, what's going to happen in the Heineken cup or the 6N for that matter? Which version will the reffs be reffing?
The same as happens in the RWC raindog - the SH refs will referee using their version of the rules. Long time no here guys. Hopefully I have time now for a wee yarn and a pint.
20. 1/2 way through a 22 cubic metre pour. I'm paying 99€ & TVA at 19.6% per cubic metre delivered. One word of warning. It seems to be the way here that the delivery is like soup but with the accelerators it goes off very quickly. So be warned - plan well ahead.
21. Very much along the lines of my own thinking plod. IT looks like the the big 3 are getting back into full swing. Australia giving France a dumping while the All Blacks show just how much they under performed in the RWC by out playing the Boks. I think we all have a long way to go before we can become serious contenders in the world of rugby but the key thing for me is that most of us have the ability we just need to bolt it all together.
22. I met a few car fulls of Toulouse supporters in a station on the A20 on Sunday. They were very much exhausted but I rather suspect it was different reasons [;-)] Perhaps if the French RFU got its act together and could control the game here in France, then they could force the financiers to reduce the number of games and the length of their season and this might have a positive impact on the French national teams results. But then again .............. Whats your views on Martin Johnston as he steps into the light today (along with the new contract between the national team and the Premiership)? Will he make sweeping changes, subtle ones and will he make a difference?
23. God saves us plod - Ireland always miss an opportunity - its our bloody nature.
24. Its always an issue of personal opinion raindog but hasnt Barkley been in pretty good form at club level this season. With the new changes in management surely (same for the Irish too of course) its time to start looking at some of the younger and more hungrier guys for a future out half
25. Mmmmmm - another error strewn performance from Ireland. Missed tackles, insufficient grunt and a period after 40 minutes when we seemed to be asleep. Perhaps the next time eh? [+o(] [B] [+o(]
