  1. Thanks Will, Cost is not a major constraint, time is. I will check the site link you gave. Regards
  2. Last time I was in Paris, I was askwed for directions no fewer than five times over two days, four by Americans and one by a Brit. All in poor French! Would you have preferred to be asked in English (American), at least the tourists tried to speak French.
  3. I need advice, I have to get from Villedieu Les Poeles to London Gatwick to pick up a flight at 0900 on a Friday morning. No car. Does anyone have any good ideas about the 'best' way to do the journey. It is probably shameful to admit that I have not used public transport ( in either country) for many years hence I am totally out of practice.  Any / All ideas welcome. Many thanks in advance
  4. """"Chartered Marketer""" What is a "marketer" ???????  ( or 'Marketeer" as in a later post ) Regards
  5. Try      www.plumbingpages.com or www.diydata.com Regards
  6. WJT, My apologies for misleading you ( and others), I do not know the individual family referred to by Adrian Squires, my use of "they" was related to the US  Airforce as an organisation who fly in food stuff on a daily basis for their personnel and families who are stationed in UK and who do not wish to use locally produced goods or services. Apogies once more for the 'confusion' regards
  7. What a shame, the mods appear to have deleted a reply that I wanted to reply to, well, never mind !!!!
  8. I believe they also had deliveries of American bread and milk flown in daily from the USA so that they did not get the 'nasty local stuff', and some people think that Brits in France act strangly where food is concerned!!!!!!!!
  9. . Flying - How about - Harvard, flying pig (Varsity), Hastings, Shacklton (tail dragger version), Devon, Dove, Heinkle 110 (Confederate Airforce USA), P51T, Beverly, C130, Cambera PR2, Hunter T4, Meteor T2, Lightening T7, Buccaneer S2C, Phantom FGR2, Quillan, Based on the lack of single seaters in list I'm guessing you were a Nav,   how close am I ? Hunters at 229 OCU and Vulcans at Waddo were more my scene, when the UK had an airforce that is. Regards
  10. Ian, Having very quickly checked your 'rule of thumb' method I would say that the results are at least 33% over the top, if not more, certainly in terms of watts ( I dont do BTUs !!!!!!).  Doing the calculations properly using U values, air changes etc is not particularly onerous and gives you a much more accurate heat requirment figure. Whilst you can, as you say, always turn it down, it is not particularly cost effective to install a bigger system than needed. Regards
  11. I have 90 sqr m of tiles, they occupy 1 + 1/3 standard pallets and I seem to remember the weight being quoted at approx 1800kg for the load. I cant find the paperwork so its all in the memory so may well be innaccurate. The number seems to tie up with La Guerriere though. Hope it helps Regards
  12. Jond, How do you get the roots out ? Our whole garden is surrounded with the b******s and we feel exactly the same as you about them. We tried winching a root out and all that did was move the anchor vehicle sideways. Regards
  13. Just checked your link, thats pretty cool!!
  14. so basically its nothing to do with a bus!!!! How very odd! Regards
  15. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a 'pedibus' ????? Regards
  16. Correction, I thought you all meant on the individual threads. Not the forum listing. Sorry.
  17. I dont get them, could being on firefox make difference????
  18. Jim, Thanks for info, but what is/are "GSBs" Regards
  19. This is my personal view, Gaz de ville ( ordinary mains gas ) is the cheapest fuel supply for CH, LPG ( GPL in France) is the most expensive. Oil is next to Gaz to ville, electricity is next. The biggest source of heat loss is lack of insulation. There is absolutely no point in pumping heat into a building if that heat is escaping to the atmosphere. As an example - my master bedroom in Normandy needs 190 w/m sqr if uninsulated to maintain a 21 deg C delta T ( -1 to +20) If insulated with 200mm of fibre glass loft insulation that heat loss reduces to 3.5 W/m sqr. No contest! insulation rules OK. The average (uninsulated) house will lose 30% of all heat input through the roof. This is heat (energy) you are paying for and not getting any benefit from. I could get quite carried away with a discourse on heat etc but, suffice to say, if you can get gaz de ville it may well be worth it, if you already have oil its down to cost effectiveness calculations and amortisation. I still think the bottom line is insulation ( and control) to maximise what you have before you make any changes. After all, the maths are not difficult, - its not rocket science. Regards
  20. Jim, Can you point me in the right direction for twin bottle manifolds? I remember years ago seeing an auto-changeover twin manifold but cant remember any makes etc. Regards
  21. Hoabriat, An interesting response, you are of course fully entitled to your personal viewpoint. However, I do not imagine that there will be a lot of agreement with you on this forum. Perhaps you should stick to being in a wonderful, civilised country with free broadband and leave the rest of us to our whining about soup kitchens etc. I dont personally need an evangelist telling me how France can be improved. I leave that to the French, its their country. Many Regards
  22. I suggest you run the majority of pipe in copper, not many copper-eating mice as far as I know. A short flexi to the regulator and similarly a short flexi to the hob. Its probably a good idea to fit an isolating valve at the hob end of the copper before your flexi connection. Only a suggestion of course. Regards
  23. How do you know you have been receiving low volts ?. I assume EDF have an equivalent system to UK where the tolerance on voltage levels is quite wide. You have to get them to fit a recording voltmeter over a period of time to prove that the volts were outside the legal tolerance. Godd luck, I wont hold my breath for you !!!!!!
