1. Thank you Andyh4. I have a brand new 4 litre tin of Glycero spirit based paint that one shop suggested I use on top of bad badegeon on the walls but I have since learned it may not be the solution (still not sure!). I have quite a few radiators to paint so was hoping I could use it. It states it is sous-couche Universelle ISOLANTE Glycero. Not sure how it differs to the old fashioned spirit based gloss paint.
2. Does anyone know what makes radiator paint accept high temperatures? Does it have something added to it that spirit based paint doesn't have?
3. The artisan that applied the badigeon added some sort of additive for just that but it didn't seem to help in regards to the plaster. As you, there were also patches and staining problems, not to mention that in some areas it started flaking off.  Good luck with sorting your problem out I am sure mine is quite rare. If there is a cowboy within miles I am sure to find them! [:D]
4. All sorts of problems on the plasterboard, it was very patchy and they had to start using emulsion paint. But the living room was plastered and the plaster started cracking and coming off the walls. Apparently the badigeon had lots of water in it causing this problem. Prior to this problem the badigeon started peeling off the plaster all together in areas. I would never have badigeon again after these problems but in all fairness I think it was all down to the artisans (self proclaimed experts!) not understanding the work properly. Can't even get one to return my calls, I think it is beyond him. The badigeon is very powdery so can't just paint over it.
5. I have had all sorts of problems with badigeon, it is the one reason I chose two artisans because they used natural materials and I thought it would be beautiful. We ended up having to use paint and I am having to try take it off our large living room walls. In fact I can't get them to return my calls so not sure what to cover it with. Apparently you can't just paint over it, it must be sanded down and a special resin put on before applying paint. It is a nightmare and sadly I would never recommend these products. If only I had just gone with ordinary emulsion paint! [:(]
6. Thank you Jonzjob. Unfortunately, even if I was successful at scraping it off,  after trying some other clear oil on an off cut it turned quite red as well so I don't think it would make much of a difference. I think it is because he used red oak. Unfortunately the work top had wood worm holes in it when it was delivered with the island unit it was made for so not much I can do about it now. Thank you again.
7. They certainly look excellent! However, I am sure I would bodge the whole worktop. I also would be afraid it would open up the wood worm holes further. In any case even if I took the danish oil off not sure what I could use that wouldn't turn it reddish. The other product turned it a similar colour albeit not quite as dark. It appears he used red oak. Thank you anyway Jonzjob and also Suein56 for the links.
8.
Maybe going a little off-topic but as you might imagine, as a maxillo-facial surgeon I've done my fair share of remedial work for victims of trauma or disease in an attempt to make their appearance less socially ostracising. It always (and still does) struck me as odd that we are so quick to judge by appearance and the pressure that those with unfortunate facial disfigurements feel in normal relations. I can understand why someone would feel the need to alter their appearance, particularly those whose lives are lived in the vacuous glare of the camera. I apply the stuck in a lift test: would I rather spend 12 hrs stuck in a lift with a vacuous but notionally attractive bimbo or would I rather have the company of an intelligent, sympathetic person? By that reckoning I'd take Jo Brand over a lad's mag inflatable object any day of the week and twice on Sundays!
I wanted to commend you for saying this because it certainly sounds like you are a "thinking" man. However thinking about it from my (womans) point of view, being stuck in a lift with George Clooney for 12 hours has a certain ring to it.[Www] Not sure what that sas about me! [:D]
9. Just checked the piece that I used the 3v3 product on and after the second coat it is turning a little red not quite as bad as the Danish oil but it is still red. The artisan that made it said it could be red oak and not white oak so I guess that is what it is. The first coat of the 3v3 looked beautiful but I guess the second is starting to bring out the red. Thanks anyway.
10. Thank you John, that is what I was afraid of. You can see on the sides how deeply it has penetrated. Even though it is new and was delivered this way the bottom side is full of worm holes there are quit a lot on top but the bottom is full of them so not possible to turn it over. Thanks again. P.S. By the way, is it normal that Danish oil has a red tint?
11. Does anyone know how I can remove Danish oil from a new oak worktop? It was put on a few months ago and it is a red colour. I just tried the 3v3 huile incolour mat product made for worktops on an off cut and it is a beautiful light golden colour so was hoping I could get the danish oil off. Any advice would be most appreciated.
12. Hi Dexter, sorry I can't help on the health care issue but just wanted to say congratulations! It must have been a stressful time trying to sell your house for so long. You must be very happy, well done. [:D]
13.
IN GROUND NOW AND WATERED THEM THIS MORNING,AS IT IS HOT AND SUNNY.I DID NOT WANT THEM TO SUFFER.[:D] 4 hours later and a strange thing is happening  [8-)]...... they were 36 cms high, but they are bending towards the sun and have started to sprout a side wire which is almost 75 cms long and coming towards the house and windows at an alarming rate .........................    .......like bloody triffids!![:'(] How do i switch them off.... [:'(]   oh no there coming to get me  [:'(]     .....help....[:'(]                               .agh...................................
Tell the wife to sort it! [:D]
14.
I have one in 37
Arghh! I can't seem to find anywhere to hire a floor polisher (cireuse). I have tried all the location of materieux places and the Bricos. Does anyone know where I can hire one?
15. Our garden in France is not enclosed. When we first bought the house we had two dogs and it most definitely was a problem particularly for our little dog . Sadly we lost our beloved large dog (cancer) and since then the little one more or less lost his bravado. I think he had loads of it when he had his big brother to back him up. [:(] It isn't a problem with our little dog now (13 years old) but I would feel very nervous about getting another dog because of not having a secure garden. I hate to say this particularly if she would want to rescue but my vote would be to advise her not to get one. It would b very sad if the dog had to spend its days chained up or worse in an accident.
16. Poolguy, lovely! Thank you. I was hoping someone would say the wax isn't necessary, the main reason is I don't have a polisher so will have to hire one. But it appears it is something I must do to get the best results. Thanks again.
17. Well I guess it is wax on top of oil it is. Not that anyone here knew this. [:D]
18. Hi Poolguy, sorry to be thick [:$] but does that mean yes you would apply wax on top of the oil finish?
19. I have oiled our sanded floorboards and was advised to put a wax finish on top of the oil and hire a buffer. I had assumed it was a choice between oil or wax finish and I chose oil but perhaps a final wax coat buffed up would be the best?  Has anyone done this?
20. PaulT, this is something so many of us including me have gone through and know how difficult it must be for you. My thoughts are with you and do hope Lace will start feeling better. She is very lucky to have you caring about her so much. Please let us know how she is doing.
21. I hope it wasn't me!  I did a search on Danish oil on both the forums and found a thread I posted on TF. The thread was from 2006, just after posting I could not access. Do you think responding to an old buried thread could have caused a problem? I hope it was just a coincidence.
22. Alan, I just had a look and mine doesn't have an option to click on Map Share. When I update it shows updating Map Share and also downloads changes to Map Share but there is no separate Map Share option that I can see at all. I suppose I need to update the map now but going back to what John said, it is expensive!
23. Thanks Alan at least I know now why perhaps the new Brive airport is still not showing up when I update it!
