  1. I think this is a simple misunderstanding and I agree that this particular thread should now be ended.
  2. I think you can still see it because you have a cached version of it/or the page...I reckon it's no longer there...that's my theory...[:)]
  3. ...I'm not sure either.[:)] Ali - Can you see it when you click on the link I gave? Thanks
  4. Then maybe only users/members of that website can see it? There must be a reason why some of you can and some of you can't. It's not forum settings.
  5. Hi, It's linking to: http://f3.yahoofs.com/users/41b1a39fze4eda1a0/8dc0/__sr_/e81dre2.jpg?phI8GbEBcXT9sixs and there is no image located there.
  6. And you. Is that a Morgan in your avatar? Are you taking it? I was planning on taking my own Saab but as it's a bit tuned up (ahem), not sure it will make it and it only gives me about 20mpg!
  7. If its an older car, then you'll need to write to the manufacturer and ask them for one. Getting a certificate of conformity from the manufacturer for older vehicles Just a note that Peugeot UK would not provide one of these when we phoned them and spoke to export, sales and technical depts in turn. They said there was no such thing for their cars over 10 years old (this was 2 years ago). They said try asking Peugeot France if I really wanted one. It was easier to ask DRIRE which took just a couple of weeks when we sent of the application form and UK reg document. Seems a more reliable route to take.
  8. Originally posted by 'Sunday Driver' : If you are resident in France, you have one month in which to import your UK car and register it with your prefecture. If you car is of "standard" EU manufacture (ie, not a Japanese/US grey import) then you'll need to sort out the following in order to register your car in France Export Declaration: Fill in the tear-off export declaration slip from your V5C registration document and send it to the DVLA at Swansea. Retain the V5C as you'll need it to register here.  If you've any time left on your tax disc, you can send it back as well and request a refund of any expired excise duty. VAT Paid certificate (quittus fiscal): Visit your local Hotel des Impots and ask them for a quittus fiscal certificate.  You'll need to take along your V5C, original invoice/receipt (though for older cars, they don't usually ask for it) and a utility bill.  The certificate is free and incorporates your authority to drive your UK car on its foreign plates for a month whilst you arrange registration. Type approval (certificat de conformite): If its a recent car, then it's normal to find a copy of the manufacturer's certificate of conformity inside the owners manual/service book.  If its an older car, then you'll need to write to the manufacturer and ask them for one. There's normally a 100-130 euro fee for this although some will issue them for free.  Alternatively, you can apply to the DRIRE (Dept of Industry) for an attestation d'identite.  Download an application form (with english instructions) from HERE and post it off with a copy of your V5C to your local DRIRE office.  They'll check their database of type approved vehicles and post you an attestation certificate.  Cost is 67,38 euros. Controle Technique: If your car is 4 years old or more, take it for a CT test.  You'll need to change the headlamps for right hand dipping ones (cost up to 200 euros - try a scrapyard).  You'll also need to produce your V5C.  The CT lasts for 2 years and costs 56,00 euros.  Retests on failed items are usually free. The certificate is called a proces-verbal. Visit your local prefecture and fill in a demande de certificate d'immatriculation.  Take it to the counter and hand it over together with your certificat de conformite/attestation d'identite, quittus fiscal, proces-verbal de controle technique, V5C registration document, invoice/receipt, passport and a utility bill.  After they've checked everything, you'll be given a slip of paper which you hand in at the caisse together with the fee (credit cards accepted).  Fees are based on a sliding scale depending on age of vehicle and its fiscal power rating. You can find a fee chart HERE . Once you've paid, they'll issue you with a new registration document (carte grise).  Now take the carte grise to a cordonniere (key cutting/handbag shop usually situated inside the foyer of a hypermarket) and he'll make you up a set of plaques for about 20 euros.  Don't forget to ask him for some rivets - screws are illegal here. Finally, organise yourself some french insurance cover, stick their green insurance vignette on the inside of your windscreen. If your car is a "grey" Japanese import, then the process is more complex and costly and outside the scope of this response.
  9. [:D] I have a number of different types of posts for sale: factual, comic and Q&A. The prices quoted above are for an assorted mixed bag. I'll have to stop now or I'll have to delete my own post for advertising....
  10. I'm currently selling posts: 500 posts for €60  1000 posts for €80. PM me and payment can be made through Paypal.  [:)]
  11. Perhaps the original programme after which The Apprentice was modelled (The US TV show with Donald Trump), had more value: but sadly, yet another property wheeler dealer. Sad. Perhaps the next series will be called The Apprentice - Abroad? [:)]
  12. His moments of brilliance never really outweighed the rest. Fair play to him though on the task where he took a couple who were window shopping in the Letting Agents window, got the viewing and signed them up...
  13. Is it the same as a distribution list? I have never done this....   Outlook 2003 On the File menu, point to New, and then click Distribution List. In the Name box, type a name. Click Select Members. In the Show names from the list, click the address book that contains the e-mail addresses you want in your distribution list. In the Type name or select from list box, type a name you want to include. In the list below, select the name, and then click Members. Do this for each person you want to add to the distribution list, and then click OK. If you want to add a longer description of the distribution list, click the Notes tab, and then type the text. The distribution list is saved in your Contacts folder by the name you give it.
  14. I have just tried this and it doesn't seem like you do need to add to the to box (not on my system at least). If you do, then you could add your own email address. Edit: Dick posted at same time, his method is much better!
  15. You could add all their names to the BCC (click on cc and it is one of the options). This will blind copy them in and will not show all the addresses to each. That's one way.
  16. Twinkle, If you change your email address back to the original one (your login email address) and then load an avatar and sig and then save. Then go back in and change your email address to your new one and save. This should work. If you still have a problem, send me your sig and avatar and I will upload it for you. James
  17. Hi everyone, I have set up a new forum section just below the postbag called 'The Lounge'. This section is for off-topic or non-France related postings. It's a place for members can chat and catch up with each other. By keeping these types of post in one place, hopefully they won't get muddled up within France question and answer posts and will also make the forum easier to use. Unfortunately it isn't possible to change the way the 'active' page sees these posts or displays them. Ideally it would be great to separate the active page into the most recent posts from each forum section, but this isn't possible. So if you are looking for something specific you may be better off going to the actual forum itself or using the search. Regards James
  18. Hi All, I have looked into the Dotty login problem and it doesn't look like the orginal login is still active (I can't find it on the system), so for simplicity I have asked Dotty to keep to her latest one. Best Regards James
  19. Hi, I have removed the thread and spoke to the original poster as to the reason why. If anyone receives abusive emails you need to contact your ISP and let them know so they can deal with it. Also if someone is accused of sending the email and they didn't, a libel case can ensue. Regards James
  20. Not long to go now! Have managed to persuade Saab UK to lend us a 9-3 estate for the journey down. Need the extra luguage space because the other car is a Caterham.[:)]
  21. It's just a saying, an excuse given by British Rail for delays... usually it's the wrong type of leaves on the line.
  22. Hi I have updated the links, it had an extra .com at the end. Works OK now. James
  23. The males can't sting...but not sure how you would find out.
  24. '...comments about the administration of the forum...' is what is the code of conduct states...this is a question about the forum structure itself. As for the direction of the forum...well France is the discussion topic...so posts about France are expected. However....the reason for me introducing a poll is to gauge whether members would also like an area for other discussion (topics that aren't particulary about France), where members can catch-up with each other. This area could then be ignored by members that are not interested in off topic conversation.   James, could you clarify the question.  Is the question “Would you use/participate in … ?” or “Would you agree with… ?”.  Some may not participate in such a forum area but would have nothing against it as they could just ignore it.  Thus a “No” might be “I would just ignore it not participating there” or might be “No I disagree with such an area on … grounds”. It's 'Would you agree with having the forum area' so that member's off topic chat is available but in a separate forum area. Or would you prefer the forum to keep to France discussion only.
