    Sweating..

Wasn't it QE I that said she 'took a bath once a year whether needed or no' ? [+o(]

    Trump

I'm hoping that people in the UK will be thinking along the lines of 'Well if Trumpton is for Brexit then I'm voting to stay in' As for the hair, it's like our own dear Boris.  Anything to make you stand out from the crowd.  A bit like Regan insisting that his hair really was naturally dark.  Funny that it didn't stay that way too long after he was no longer in the public eye.
  4. Many thanks for that Dontcha just lurve Axminster tools? [:P] I think I'll invest in a Red one to start and see how it goes. I'd rather pay more for a quality sharpener than one of the cheap Chinese knock offs
  5. Can I offer one small tip for weddings regardless of where they are? Always carry a few safety pins of various sizes (from the little gold coloured ones to something a bit bigger) I haven't attended that many weddings but there always seems to be a 'wardrobe malfunction' of some sort and I have gained many Brownie points over the years by simply offering a selection of pins [:)]
  6. J-J those diamond sharpeners look great, I've looked at them before with envy. Since they are a bit pricey.  If I was only going to buy one, what grade would you recommend for general sharpening (eg knives, chisels - not machine tools) please?
  7. Yeah so it's an air source heat pump without a fan to waft air over the 'cold' side. They seem to have a coefficient of only around 2 so a long time to recoup your outlay.
  8. I'm always a bit suspicious of anything containing a Buzzword. Of course it's 'thermodynamic'  any heating/cooling system is including your log burner and your 'fridge'. An item in the Grauniad is not very encouraging.  LINK What's wrong with evacuated glass tubes?  tried and tested technology that just works
  9. OK just ignore me. The restriction applies to cargo only and not passenger or crew belongings Sorry, I should have read the website more carefully
  10. By chance I came across an article which stated that, from 1st April,  lithium-ion batteries can no longer be carried in hold luggage in aircraft LINK I flew back last weekend with a bloomin' great Li-ion power brick in my hold luggage and I was never asked about it and I had no idea of the restriction. How would anyone ever know anyway? You can still carry them in cabin baggage apparently
  11. "Do you like Tolstoy?" "Of course. Who doesn't?" "What's your favourite book?" "The one where Woody is kidnapped & Buzz tries to save him".
  12. Spot on WB He was in fact a balladeer of popular music songs as played in Music Halls m'Lord His songs seem to have been preoccupied with colour eg: Purple Rain Little Red Corvette Raspberry Beret  etc.
  13. 'Tis but another part of 'The Internet of All Things' Which is fine until your house gets hacked or the Singularity is reached. Singularity?  Have a look HERE
  14. So my Sat box is a   Humax 'Foxsat HD' I is not made anymore but I would think the newer models are worth looking at
  15. How about a Corylus avellana 'Contorta' or corkscrew hazel also known as Harry Lauder's walking stick
  16. Was never a fan of his music but sad all the same. When he went through his hissy fit stage (with Sony?) I genuinely thought he had changed his name to Cymbal [8-)]
  17. Umm I don't remember but I can check tonight. It doesn't have a recorder built it (one can be added I think) but that's not  a feature I would use anyway. It's a few years old now but works as good as ever.
  18. +1 for a Humax Mine is the best Sat box I ever had.  Additionally, I like the layout of the remote and the on-screen menus.  Sounds trivial I know but irksome if it is not laid out logically
  19. or Switzerland Why? Because many of the cars are top of the range with all the bells and whistles have nearly always been garaged have been serviced according to the book have not been thrashed as the speed limit is strictly enforced 120 kph
  20. It's actually www.Lhdcarsupermarket.com  (ie no plural 's') Looks a bit expensive to me but I'm probably out of touch with UK car prices
  21. Well I stand about 6' 4" in my cotton socks, my son a bit more. Both of us find that the normal worktop height is just a bit too low and requiring a constant slight bend in the back to reach properly, I've always had back problems though.  I made the bench in my workshop a bit higher than is usual and I can work for a long time at that. PS I've only played golf a couple of times but I found the bats to be ridiculously short
  22. Its funny but my son and I find worktops far too low, even at 90 cms. We would prefer about 15 cms more as the constant bending over does our backs in (don't get me started on how low sinks are) .   However, if we had that then OH couldn't reach - maybe we need a his 'n hers halves of the kitchen. PS Why are broom handles and garden tools so short too?
  23. Have you tried a re-scan and/or re-tune? If you're getting Cbeebies then you should get BBC4 as you know. I'm not very far from you and I get all the channels on an 80 cm dish without any problems (except very heavy rain of course)
  24. The one I like is Duolingo It has a great deal of content, you do the little exercises at your own pace and it's FREE !! Why is it free? Well the story goes that the person that invented Captcha  (you know, the irritating words you have to transcribe sometimes to prove to a website you are not a robot) is so consumed with guilt at the amount of time wasted in doing this that he wants to 'give something back'  and so his grand plan is to translate everything into everything else I tried to learn Portuguese with this but I didn't get far.  Not the fault of Duolingo but with me, I should have spent more time on it
