  1. Do they have dpc in France Jan
  2. Same here no change [:'(] Have got the food under control but agree with Jan keep reaching for the bottle when something happens or probably in my case doesnt.. Definitely got the beached whale feeling, have to keep thinking of bikinis. Do envy you your 9;9 loss Alexis it is fantastic. Has anyone heard of insulin resistance where everything you eat is stored as fat (sounds horrible) or is it just my wine non resitance;[8-)] The Other Jan
  3. With all the new build going on at the moment they are running out of building land and keep rezoning. In other words green belt can become zone urbanisation overnight. Unless you keep popping into the Mairie it is difficult to keep track. Am I wrong or do you live in the Lot?  Land is changing zone quickly in the Cahors area as it is trendy at the minute to leave the apartment in Cahors and have a new house built in the country. Looking in the local free newspaper building land prices vary from 6 to 26 Euros per squ metre. The land at the bottom of our garden is now for sale in what is supposed to be green belt, we have checked at Mairie and it now has a CU. Jan Lost in The Lot
  4. Completely focused and have been so good, also no alcohol but no change. Not giving up though and even sticking to diet over weekend, perhaps half a stone will drop off in one go. Hope its not a leg I bought a stepper and knees are killing me. Strange thing is I dont miss the alcohol so will take advantage of that. Hope all going well at the hospital Alexis and well done 400g is still good. Heard my first cuckoo this morning, got to think of summer and bikini. [:$] Keep smiling and slimming everyone [:D] The Other Jan

  6. Thank You Alexis certain now everything is down or up to the booze. YOU are however allowed a whole bottle and more of muscadet in those circs, all the best for last round .Admire your strength. I shouldnt joke about sending OH away. Thoughts are with you and hope its Champagne on his return. We have not got a kerb edge now but I remember when we had. Also remember hula hoops not the ones you eat. Know what you mean about 'healthy walks' last one resulted in a coffee/brandy and chocs. The Other Jan
  7. 750 euros sounds very cheap for an insulated concrete floor have you any further info re how it is constructed? Screeds can vary a lot in thickness and there maybe a height allowance to bury pipes or they may already be buried in the concrete floor. Don't think its stupid to check what has been done so far. Did you specify your finished floor material? Jan.
  8.  (sincere intention to do exercise uses up quite a few calories, did you know that?)  Didn't know, but I will drink to that. Only on Saturday and Sundays though. Perhaps I need to send MOH off to China hmm [:O] The Other Jan
  9. Lost 1 kilo this week which is the kilo I put on a couple of weeks ago. Now down off the high plateau. Lost the weight at the beginning of the week, no alcohol Monday or Tuesday but hurt the old back on Wednesday so had to have some medicine. Getting too old to be a concrete mixer.[*-)]  Looks as though the problem could be the booze[:'(] so definitely no alcohol next Monday to Friday drastic measures necessary including exercise if back holds up. Alexis 8.5 kilos is fantastic are you still having alcohol. Off to have a look at fat photos, a good motivator. Keep smiling and slimming everyone The Other Jan
  10. A bit of sunshine this afternoon feel lots better.[:D] New regime tomorrow, giving up both the chocolate and brandy. Have got the treadmill up and running and intend writing down everything I eat to see where the problem lies.[*-)] Just had a look at fat photos [:'(] definitely  a reason for the final brandy. Cheers, keep smiling & slimming everyone. Happy Birthday Gay Jan Lost in the Lot

  12. Have seen handmade cards selling well in Spanish markets with large English resident /holidaymaker population. I bought lots last year to cover requirements this year only to find La Poste are now selling good quality cards in the 2 to 3 euro bracket.. Perhaps you need to find outlets in areas dominated by English habitants/tourists. Good Luck Jan
  13. Aaaaagh scales. You are all very brave going near them. Not going to touch them this weekend. Have been looking at fat photos today it certainly is a motivator. Monday is another week and  forecast is for sun on Tuesday hooray.[:D] I always thought the headache with chocolate was caused by the obligatory brandy. Not sure which to give up[*-)] Keep smiling and slimming everyone. Jan Lost in the Lot
  14. Know the feeling Polycarpe lost a tiny bit since beginning of feb put it all back on last week. Don't give up weather forecast is better for next week. Feel as though we haven't seen the sun for months. I'm going to pig out this weekend and start again on monday. Keep smiling and slimming everyone.[:)] Jan Lost in the Lot
  15. Looks as though we are all in the same boat or should I say house. 8 years down the line and Im still wearing  the work clothes I was going to throw out next month. Perhaps there is a clue in this as to why we cant lose weight. Jan Lost in the Lot
  16. I think they smell like marzipan when squashed. I always thought they were some type of woodworm beetle. Have I been wrong all these years? Jan
  17. We obtained a CU last year. We had already owned the house for a few years so had to use the Notaire. Cost was 900 Euros, majority of fee was tax payable on value of house now. Jan Lost in the Lot
  18. Same thought crossed my mind yesterday in our local Carrefour. Normally just a couple of tills on and a couple of people wandering around at lunchtime, but had several trolley collisions and all tills on and full. Jan
  19. 8kgs is absolutely fabulous Alexis, can you give us any helpful hints. Know how you feel Jan. I ate anything and everything in sight December and January and didnt change weight. Since beginning of Feb have tried ever so hard to be good and have put on a couple of kilos.. Even gave up alcohol last week and boo hoo have still not lost a gram. Cant work it out at all, driven to the drink tonight. Will do some research on internet armed with a brandy. The Other Jan
  20. There is also something else called prev soc and this is 2.3 percent. Just a thought on UK Government pensions. If they are taxable at source is the lump sum taxable at source and therefore tax free even to french residents? Jan
  21. 5kg in 7 weeks sounds like heaven. Better than fish and chips or chinese. Plateau turned into a hill this week up 2 kilos, perhaps I need some new scales!!!! Pigging out this weekend then lettuce and tuna next week and definitely no alcohol. Drastic measures are necessary. Friends sent us a photo of me taken a couple of weeks ago and I really really need to lose 2 stone. Have put FAT picture on fridge. A big well done to all who have lost weight Jan Lost in the Lot
  22. No change AGAIN. If I eat no change. If I diet no change Read this week that alcohol slows down metabolism. Wish weather would improve so more tempted to have blackcurrant than that other red stuff.. Do envy you your gym Jan, sounds fun and encouraging. The Other Jan Lost in the Lot
  23. Same here, but we have now received a bill for 60 euros per year for inspection of the fosse. Do we request mains drainage?[:D][:^)]
