1.
I bought a Satellite package from Costarama (twin LMB's)which I was told would received BBC1/2 plus CBBC. I can get Astra and Hotbird fine, but BBC is on Astra28.2 which I can at last get but only a ...
My signal strength is about same as yours, but we have no probs and recieve all BBC channels plus about 100 odd other English speaking channels. We have a cheap digital satelite reciever & dish bought from Mr. Bricolage for about 70 euros and only thing we changed (because the dish was too big for our house) was to buy a sky mini dish.
2. Problem as I see it, there are too many Brits with the idea that the French will work for peanuts and either fail to realise (or don't want to) that to run a business here requires oodles of money to pay the social charges and taxes required. The days of the farmer down the lane doing your work are long gone!
3. We recieve child benefit for both our kids without any hassle (now). Have to say though it was a pretty tough ride to actually recieve it as there is no such thing in France as an automatic right to anything (even for the French).
4.
As far as I'm aware, a private individual doesn't pay road tax on their vehicule(s) in France. If you register the truck (or other) in the name of a company, though, you'll have to tax it. But after looking around at various French vans I haven't noticed anything resembling a tax disc.... Don't wish to ask the authorities as you get the usual 3 different versions non of which makes any logical sense (except to the French)
5.
The best solution may well be the "portage". It's a simple concept : You don't create a business structure You sign up with an "entreprise de portage" When you come to bill a customer, you make the b...
Do you have to register with any organisme such as ASSEDIC????
6. Seemly its alway ASSEDIC first. Sometimes the French tell you to contact ANPE first, but they only tell you you must first register with ASSEDIC before them!!! Even the French can't get money from ASSEDIC!!!! Being one of the lucky ones that have worked for the French for sometime I can only commiserate on the trial of hot coals you must be going through!
7. In fact............................ I do believe some of the previous messages (including mine) just *may* infringe on the code of conduct for the forums!
8. Hi, In regard to Charlotte's message I have noticed a few worrying replies. Miki..... I think if you read the message correctly it is just a light hearted reply about her experience and I am sure that she has done what we all have had to do..... namely gain the CT before re-registering the car. Boghound...... what has anyones financial position to do with changing headlights??? Are you paranoid about other peoples incomes or ability to live in France?? God sake get a life. Iceni....... What exactly is worrying you about the forum??? Surely not the same worries that boghound has about peoples finances C'mon folks its about BEAM DIVERTERS!
