1. Whilst I feel the same despair of most of the comments, if not some of the detail, I feel the reality is that the whole series of similar incidents are a barometer of the current condition of society and how the responsible institutions have performed during the last generation to produce these current products. Of course I absolve myself of all blame as I'm sure do many others, but something is responsible, the facts speak clearly, somebody did step off the path and tread on the butterfly; and that is the failure of this nation to perform to produce what many would rather see. These are the things that need to addressed rather than castrating a few pathetic dysfunctional rejects.
2. Quite so, Cat, Voltaire, said I believe, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." and to be pedantic; the most evil man in the world was born on 20th April, 1889, in a small town called Braunau am Inn in Austria.
3. If you can keep your head while all those around you are losing theirs, then clearly, you don’t understand the gravity of the situation!”, [author unknown]
4. Heady days indeed, Richard Lloyd in a Camaro, we used to follow Terry Sanger for a little while, still using brut! http://forums.autosport.com/printthread.php?threadid=89162
5. Sometimes i get this crazy dream that i just take off in my car. But you can travel on ten thousand miles, and still stay where you are. - Harry Chapin
6. Lantern lights are a fabulous architectural addition but have the disadvantage of a flat roof and hellish expense, we opted for a lean to roof and two x 1m sq velux on a 24sqm extension, have a look at the velux brochure to see the options, ratio of window to area is the important thing for you, Ours gives wonderful overhead light during the day, no leaks and of course at night some of us are looking at the stars. [8-|]
7. No-one mentioned coming down first thing in the morning in bare feet onto a warm floor [:)] Its been installed in our Uk property (with a new condensing gas boiler, too early for costs) but the girls in the family think its heaven. [8-|]
8. Raindog, that's still half the price of UK, but mine is a small fermette with an attached barn in 10Ksqm, though I am in the middle of converting the barn into a salon sejour avec deux chambres et une salle de bains au-dessus, I have just paid €215 for my planning permission from two years ago so I expect they will soon catch up with me on the taxe d'habitation. ! If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself [8-|]
9. The pound in your pocket is worth a lot less in the UK than you may remember, for all sorts of reasons, I pay €150 a year taxe d'habitation en France, back here I have just had my rate demand (inc 4% increase)  for  this year and I'm paying £150 pounds per month . . .
10. I know the statistics are better en France, unfortunately not in the UK, did anybody see this yesterday? In an interview about Cancer diagnosis story in Observer, Richards, national cancer director at the Department of Health, warned about the consequences of these mistakes Minor early symptoms and a sense of not being quite right, such as tiredness, weight loss, should be not ignored.

24. I'm not going to be canute about this, lots of people (including me) have made a lot of money out of property (lost a bit too) and will continue to do so,  its the same with anything else in the market, futures, whatever, the trick is of course to make sure you know which part of the circle to join on and when to leave, you have to know when to hold 'em and when to fold them. It may not be good time to sell but I have a feeling it will be a good time to buy in the future. In any case don't forget you need a plan for success and a plan for failure. prices will rise, politicians will philander, you will get old, but the real troubles in your life could be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.
