1. So, let me get this straight - our E106 runs out in Jan 08 at which point we will not be covered by CPAM and not allowed to join CMU?
2. Similar thing happened two years running with us at the Hotel des Impots.  Received a letter telling us they hadn't received our forms and this year when we went to try and sort it out, spotted this year's form along with last years (which they also said they hadn't received) in the folder.   OH took him to task on this and all we got was the "shrug" and no apology.
3. Hello everyone and welcome Geordie Girl. I won't divulge my weight this week as our last lot of visitors have just gone.  They were vegetarians - did you know you could put on weight eating lots of veggie food and vegetables.  No!  Well I did.  Ho-hum. No more visitors this year, so am cracking onto it and hoping to lose a bit before Christmas.  However, after 4 days of veggie eating, we are having sausages with jacket spuds tonight. [6] Calorie counters among us - where do you get your calorific values from?  I used to have a book but can't find it anywhere.  Do you use a website?  Has anyone done/doing the Atkins and what did you think about it?  Well, must away and strip beds ready for the next round of washing and get all the spare bedding packed away for the winter in mice proof boxes. Luv Jan
4. Does anyone know a carpet fitter in Correze (19) around the Pompadour area. Thanks Jan
5. Apart from the "tropical moments" that sometimes keep me awake at night, I find it very difficult to get to sleep some nights.  I wake up every so often, then can't get back to sleep so when I do get up in the morning, I feel completely exhausted and ratty.   Having just had an unexpected period, the first since March last year, I had all the old period symptoms again.  However, now that that has gone, I find my "own personal summers" have come back with a vengeance.  Mind you, I have just replaced my old polycotton bedding with cotton sheets and duvets and believe me, it does help.  I don't wake up in the mornings now feeling like I've been in a sweaty sauna all night. 6. That video was so sad, the music was pretty apt as well.  It just seems so senseless and heartless. I got two house cats from a friend whose cat had kittens.  Spent a year feeding a wild cat whenever she was around.  Spring last year she gave us three identical kitties.  All have now been spayed, neutered.  They are just such characters and so rewarding.  I just wish I knew how old mum wild cat was as she is not looking as spritely as she used to.  The two females are still around for food and sometimes stay indoors when the weather isn't so good, but the boy cat has been missing for some time now (about 3 months).  I would hope that he just went off to find pastures new as boy wild cats do and that he is safe.
7. Beautiful unrise Christine.  The last picture is lovely too.  I love to see the mist in the valley in the morning.
8. Bonjour Audrey - can you explain in French then we may be able to comprends l'etiquette pour les bisou. Last night I was given four kisses by the french owner of our local Auberge and I don't know him THAT well.  It is so difficult to understand. Our English friends (and French) go for two.  However in Holland (and we have a couple of Dutch friends), it is three.  Maybe two should be normal and then if you see someone coming in for another one, just respond appropriately. Jan
9. Have you tried your local "Co-op Agricole" - they sometimes stock large quantities of peanuts.  I usually get a supply brought over from England for me around this time of year.
10. I can say, without a question of doubt, that the answer is categorically NO.  He's a bit chunky is our Dave.
11. I just love all these animal pics. Davy (techie cat) certainly does know how to push my buttons.  When he's got his mouth closed and his eyes open (lol) they are the most gorgeous blue.  He's everyone's pal and is a real tart when it comes to getting stroked.  He loves a good belly rub, but he does have a tendency to go for your legs when he's in a mischevious mood.  I have the scars to prove it (and so do some of my visitors).  Good job they don't mind.  He does like to snuggle up on the bed with us at night, but he's no lightweight when he jumps up onto it.  You DO know he's there. But I wouldn't swap him.  His sisters a cute one too (silver tabby), but she's camera shy. Love Platon and Biggles is a real cutie too. Jan
12. I just tried to get into the wildlifeindigital website and it seems to be down at the moment.  I'll be e-mailing my brother tomorrow and I'll ask him what's up with it.  It may just be a case of him transferring pictures from that site to his new site at natureinbritain as he's having a break from work at the mo to do some more photography. Keep checking though as it may come back online in the next couple of days or so. I've got my bird feeders set up again outside the front window and brought one which (allegedly) sticks to the window.  First day I put it up and within 10 minutes I watch in horror as it slid down the window and dropped off onto the stone step below.  Obviously not enough spit on the suction pad - lol.  Hoping to get some more nice pictures of the birds again this year and hope that my pair of nuthatches returns.
13. That is such a gorgeous picture.  Seriously, you should enter them into a competition. My brother and his girlfriend are really into photography, so why not check out their websites.   www.wildlifeindigital.co.uk and www.natureinbritain.co.uk. Jan
14. Whole new meaning to "lap cat".  Davy has taken to sleeping in my laptop case. We're talking 15" screen which fits snuggly into the laptop case - as does Davy.
15. Using the normal method on the cooker with a "deluge" of plums earlier in the year, I thought I would have another go at plum jam.  Once again it failed and did not set.  However, the plum syrup goes really well with greek yoghurt. Why doesn't my plum jam set.  I followed the recipe diligently? Jan
16. Well, whaddya know - after starting a thread on Menopause, its symptoms etc, I woke up to a period on Tuesday.  Not had one since March 2006.  Hormones, don't you just love 'em.
17. I always thought it was handshake if you've just met, one kiss if you are an acquaintance, two, if you are friends, three if you are good friends, four ....... well !!! I have also noticed that some (mainly English) go for the lips on cheeks, whereas the French brush cheeks.  The theory behind the "brushing of cheeks" is so they can keep talking while maintaining the ritual.
18. Superb pictures.  I love kingfishers, but they are just so quick.  Quite often see them when we're canoeing on the Dordogne, but not quick enough to get a photo. You should enter it into a photo competition ; Digital Camera Magazine Photographer Of The Year 2007  You never know!!! Jan
19. ......... and so it goes on.  WE have recently lost two of OUR four pairs of sunglasses, only to be discovered under the front seat of the car (what's that about I wonder).   Car key has mysteriously vanished on several occasions only to be found in dirty work clothes in the linen basket.  Only thing that doesn't seem to go missing is cash - strange that, OH always knows where that is!!!  (Except when I raid his wallet to go shopping) - LOL
20. That'th nithe.  I bet they were cool to wear in Authtralia. A thong just came to mind - we are thailing, we are thailing, croth the othean to the thea - Rod Thtewart.
21. No takers today?  Just when I had good news.  I lost 3.5 lbs last week and I am so happy.  Let's hope I can lose a bit more this week.  Hope everyone else is "losing" too. Jan
22. You can't beat foie gras with a nice bit of toast and onion marmalade.  Our local supermarket has a restaurant next door and they do this as a starter.  It's expensive, but so worth it.
23. Blimey Bilclarie - are they all yours.  Must costs a few bob in dog food for that posse!!!!
24. Poor pooch.  Looks a little bemused in the photo.  I can empathise.  It was around this time last year that our little Tabs cat broke one of her back legs.  She was so disorientated when she came out of the aneasthetic to find this large white heavy cast.  Muggins here slept downstairs on the sofa with her the first evening she was home and had to help her to her litter tray.  She soon got the hang of the plaster though and was soon zipping about the garden which was unfortunate for us as the vet told us she could go out, but one of us had to be with her at all times while she was out.  Towards the end though it took two of us to look out for her because she was so quick. Also, what a lovely view from them there mountains.  A lovely place to live no doubt,
