  1. I ended up going to bed to get out of temptation's clutches. Did I mention the tub of ice cream?
  2. Thanks for that.  Have noted name.  Meant to look for a new one yesterday but I forgot ....
  3. Devil's own job to get it to go to the right.  I have cleaned it too? Feed it to the cats?
  4. Oh!  Having a G&T here!  It isn't the gin.  It is the tonic! Got the feeling it could be for the night.......! Where is that corkscrew?  Muscadet anyone?
  5. Only talking about them last night.  Sharn't be buying one.  Freezer choc-a-bloc.
  6. 44 sugar lumps too. Don't you have them in your recipe?  Isn't it a bit bitter?
  7. Euronews is on france 3 from 6.00.  I watch Télématin from 6.30 on france 2. I like a good laugh in the morning.
  8. We had a cider apple tree and the other year we gave all the apples to a friend for him to make cider.  He gave us a load of the finished product and they all bloody blew up.  The room still bears the scars. Calva needs quite some tme to mature.  The new stuff is well, awful!  Nearly blew my head off.  Talk about catching the back of your throat! Next time you see the travelling still you must fake a breakdown and you might get invited to taste the brew.  Make sure you are driving an Express and are wearing wellies and a blue boilersuit.   Electric cars are often spotted abandoned close by too.....! Now, if anyone wants a recipe for 44.....  Just time before New Year.  Just counted.  After New Year!
  9. Let's be honest, there is not a lot of good news in France at the moment. Just today on the news two bodies found in a burnt out car in Brittany.  A girl and her friend been missing for three weeks and some man caught with her carte bleu.  Emile Louis sent down for life for the murder of seven handicapped girls.  Old ladies in fear as a serial rapist stalks near Marseilles...... Not a bundle of laughs.  Just another day in paradise
  10. Ah.  They still talk in millions around here. Old francs rule.  OK?
  11. I'm doing Atkins.  Swear by it.  If you are strong minded enough the first fortnight you can get off to a flying start.  The weight just tumbles off.  Really gives you a boost.  I don't know about the long term effects because I usually fall by the wayside before then! Decided carbs are a BIG no no.  Feel so much better not eating them. Not had a drink for a fortnight but seriously tempted tonight.  Nice G&T.   I am having a refreshing glass of water..... Mind.  It's not too late . . .
  12. I like Jacques.  He is so obviously crooked. Did you read that his chef is retiring so they did an envelope and collected 1300€ from the staff....only to have it nicked. They are blaming Sarkie..... I also love the envelopes.  Oh good.  Friday.  The envelope stuffed with money will soon be here.....!
  13. Vignette is road tax and has, as you say, been abolished for cars.  The sticker for the CT is put on by the CT people.  You don't buy it. Certain vehicules still have to pay for their vignettes but I don't know which.  Weren't we discussing 4x4's needing one?  Certainly pick-ups have to have one.....but take that with a pinch of salt as OH is NOT reliable...... I will look in the tabacs window today and see if there is anything about it up here.
  14. Changing the carte gris.  If you buy a car in a different deptment from where you live, you have to pay to have the number plates changed.  Re-registered.  Someone else will have to tell you about that though as I have always bought locally.
  15. Well, as I wrote on the other thread about this, I went to the Prefecture in Vannes and asked once more for them to change my UK licence for a French one and they refused.  Still many years to go apparently.  I have a bit of paper with a stamp on. Mine is the old bit of paper.  If stopped the flic do question it but it is stamped by the Prefecture .....
  16. Sorry, I went straight to the last page and didn't see Gay's post.  Well done!  Another volunteer too!  How many is that?  Six of us? Lost 1.5cm of my waist and 1cm off my hips.  Frankly, disappointed as lost a lot more in January.  There again, I was a lot fatter. No, swanning around thinking I am a size 10..... Started adding a bit now the first fortnight is over and having half a slice of toast with my boiled eggs.  Quite honestly, after the first bite, it seemed to have lost it's attraction.   HURRAH!  I am keeping a close eye on it's effects.  If I feel hungry for example.  If someone had told me about the adverse effects carbs had on me I would have laughed as I knew nothing.  Now, I am beginning to think that I am indeed 'allergic' to carbs.  Will study this later. So, another week begins.  Will wish you all strength to resist! Oh.  Decided I want to lose 10cm still off both hips and waist.  I am being realistic.  I know I will never be thin.  Unless.......!
  17. Sorry.  Sunday Times.  Decided to turn up this week. It was just little snippets on the telly pages.  Must say, I would like to see the chateau one but I daresay 'Duchess' will be watching and will report.  I hope so, anyway. How much would a debt of £400,000 cost a month?
  18. 1.  how someone can claim £7000 a WEEK for looking after a child in care. 2.  they are returning to the chateau and well, £400,000 in debt and they are starting to panic.   Just two juicy bits from the culture section.  Sorry don't know the nights but already passed the paper on.
  19. If you have had bad news Belinda, you have to eat to keep your strength up....  You haven't sinned.   Next week you might lose LOADS. Measuring day tomorrow.  I feel like Twiggy's slimmer sister which just goes to show how my brain is lying to me. First fortnight up tomorrow so I am going to indulge in half a slice of bread every other day and have some boiled eggs.  By an unbelieveable stroke of luck I am in a 'saintly' phase which is lasting!  Famous last words. Just finish this refreshing glass of water and I will take my ready prepared half slice of bread out of the freezer..... Just hope the Hagen Daz doesn't accidently fall into my mouth!
  20. I like the idea.  Really got into early morning shopping at Asda in York when across for The Wedding. It would be a step in the right direction is they stopped bloody closing for lunch.  Even better, open on a Sunday! Carrefour has an online shopping experience.  Never used it as like to browse but try their site.  www.carrefour.fr
  21. One and a half hours to Paris.  Will the Parisians flit to Bretagne?  I seem to remember that a lot moved down south when the line opened to, possibly, Marseille!  Not that good on routes.  They all descended on a town about half way between the two. Best start buying up some property.  Been a week or two without buying anything!
  22. We will all have to 'donate' 1€.  We will not be reimbursed by 1€. They rattled the tin and all they found was a button and a bit of fluff.......
  23. I have always called my efforts 'rustic'.... Do like the marigold effect idea.  I have a big wall to do in the near future and that should be just right for it.
  24. You get the amount agreed.  How could they change it?  If the compromis states x euro's, that is what you get.  It is the purchaser who pays the Notaire's and agency fees, if using one. Don't tell me that the vendor now has to pay something to the agents?    AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRgh!
