1. Thankyou for all your thoughts, you never want to do the wrong thing, but I feel more comfortable now  about approaching his wife about it and Hoddy I will be in touch thankyou for your generous offer.
2. My french neighbour died on Friday after a short illness, I have known him and his wife for fifteen years,I watched him getting the harvest in working round the clock, I could set my watch by the time he collected the eggs each morning, his vegetable patch was a work of art, he would start a game of boules  in the lane on a hot barmy August evening, but most of all he looked out for all of us,it is truly the end of an era, I would very much like to buy a bench in his memory to put under the oak tree in the middle of our hamlet where everyone passsed the time of day,do you think this is a bit english I would hate to offend.
3.

I secretly think he is glad I have found someting to keep me quiet so he can concentrate on the latest sci fi rubbish.
Scifi? Really? [geek] What's he watching? What does he think about the new Dr Who? Does he watch Lost (which is kinda Scifi) and what did he think about the final ep of Star Trek: Enterprise...[:D]
He loves it all especially star trek and tells me its the future all the time!!!!!  I just leave him to his fantasy land.
4. On the subject of pies (and this really should be on the lighter side) they now do chicken tikka masala pies in Wigan if anyone is interested Good night and thanks for the info on the Romans Dick.
5. I am not going to get into a political argument and this is the last thing I will say on the subject, but I think he has got something on T.B. otherwise he would have been sacked, it makes a mockery of Blunketts demise, just wait for the books when they have all packed up.
6. Dick I am going to be really ignorant here, I will admit I did not do history for my exams at school and only lightly covered the obvious periods of history, mainly due to being at a school in transition from CSE,S to GCSE it was a bleak time teachers strugglig with the new sylabus and I was useless with dates, but  would France have had the same sort of history in Roman times as us because you do not see much about it in France.
7. Dotty you have brought back memories, yes my lad always ate all the biscuits if we had a lie in, he invariably had a friend staying over, make the most of it , I miss those days now he has fled the nest to the city, just waiting on gran kids now to do the same, think I will have a long wait, not even a girlfriend on the horizon.
8. Bobby Moore, he was a great bloke, they dont make them like him anymore, all these young footballers who earn a packet, not a patch on that master.I incidently despite being a woman I supported Ipswich in my younger days (yes forgive me, but better than admitting to supporting Norwich)I went week in and week out , the days when they won the F,A.Cup final and The great Bobby was in charge,Those were the days when you stood unless you were posh and could afford a seat, I think football was at its greatest  then I get disillusioned now and a small club like Ipswich with a great accademy just get there young players poached by the big boys the youngsters have agents, who put large sums of money in their bank accounts at the age of 16 and there is nothing the club can do, it has spoilt it for me, when I see a good youngster now you just know he will never play for the first team at Ipswich unless he has rich parents who dont give a stuff about the money so there it is, rules made by the F.A. that do little to help the smaller clubs.Only my point of view of course, might even get my O.H. on here with this thread.
9. I did not use a rude word in my last post, just a male version of a chicken, thats not outlawed is it, this forum baffles me at times.
10. Yes the same crossed my mind, although it is the first saturdaynight I have had in for some time, but we are not complete strangers, my O.H. is a bit of a tele holic and I cannot just watch anything, I think he is more than happy to be cock of the T.V. while my little fingers dance over the keys of my lap top, but sometimes  when I laugh out aloud or mention things like the kind of beer Dick drinks, or the fact Miki has been banned but we can now see him in another place , I think he thinks I have gone gah gah, he is a broad lancashire chap, and very cynical but when I have been tapping away for some time he will make me a brew (in his language cup of tea)I secretly think he is glad I have found someting to keep me quiet so he can concentrate on the latest sci fi rubbish.
11. What is John Prescott for, well I think its to prove they are no different from the conservative party, they can do sleeze on woman and extra marital affairs just like the cons, it used to be just money that was their misdemeanor. Not anymore !!!!!
12. Have just looked up history of the drawing room in georgian times it was upstairs then in the victorian era it moved downstairs to the front of the house, sometimes known asthe sitting room or frontparlour from the word parler that means place where guests are received to talk, so yes perhaps this section needs to be called the drawing room.Incidently  the info on it also said woman did withdraw to it after dinner , did not mention cigars, but my O.H.would have enjoyed a hamlet with the boys whilst I was in the drawingroom. It is a shame we have lost these wonderful names for rooms in our modern language.
13. My mother always called it the lounge suite, how posh is that!!!!!
14. I think the drawing room sounds quite posh, but my sister always calls her lounge the drawing room, but she has a family room as well, where did the name drawing room orriginate from.I am in historical mode tonight, forgive me.But in reply to your question, yes I suppose one could let ones self go in the drawing room.Do you think others might join us.
15. Cathy, when I was a girl we were only allowed in the lounge on Sundays, we always had to take our shoes off and were never allowed a drink in there, I hated it as it was a place where you had to keep quiet whilst the news was on the black and white television,it was a grown up place and I always wanted my lounge to be a family room where you can put your feet up on the settee, I suppose I have rebbelled  against the orderly childhood that I endured in the "Lounge" so perhaps the forum should have named this new section  "the family room" it sounds more inviting and  you would certainly be able to put your feet up and let yourself go.
16.  Have just watched time team on television in the U.K and it got me thinking about france, I have never seen an archaeological dig in France in fifteen years and have travelled all over France, I know in england we are probably more enthusiastic about it, especially where I live near Colchester with its roman origins, we always have a dig going on somewhere in Colchester especially when a building is being pulled down.Just interested if anyone else has seen one in France.
17. There are many cats in our village and only one has been neutered, our french neighbours say its cruel and unatural to neutere an animal, they were horrified when I told them I had my male rabbit neutered as he had lived with his companion some while who I thought was a male and turned out to be a female. They said, you would not get a vet to do that in France.I am baffled why they think like this ,they rather kill six kittens or puppies  instead of preventing it.I have a real job getting my head round it, and I can honestly say, it is the only thing I hate about the french people in our village, I understand that they have been brought up to think an animal is an animal after all,but I do not ever think I will ever get used to it, they just think I am stupid, as soon as I arrive at my house, its like Doctor Doolitttle, every animal in the village turns up, they all have their favourite food,I even make sure I get there in time to stop at the supermarket, because I cannot bare the thought of them turning up and I have not got anything in.So can I just congratulate all you great people for making a difference to all those needy animals.I know we have to educate people in th U.K. but I do not think it is as bad as France.I would always be happy to help raise money for any of your causes, all my friends in France are animal lovers . I am in the Limousin.
18. I thought I would let all the technos go first before I posted, but I have lost my signal twice at this time of the year and twice it has been a tree, when it comes into leaf, it really did not look as though it was in the way, but it was, so I pruned it and then got a perfect picture. My english friend also had the same problem, he said it cannot be the tree it is not in the signal line, however I fetched my ladder , lopped his tree and hey presto a perfect picture, and do not forget to reset your box by switching it off at the mains waiting a minute and it will automatically reset the box.It may not be the answer but ,have a look. The third time I could not get a picture it was the box of tricks on the sattelite dish (have forgotten the name) they sell them on ebay I paid £10.00 for two and they posted them to France , you just have to have the make of your dish.Hope you sort it out.
19. I have used 100% cotton sheets all my life and I have never had a problem with bobling thats why I started using them, they should get smoother with every wash and even more comfortable, however I bought a quilt cover once that said it was 100% cotton and it bobbled now I think they either made a mistake with the label or it was brushed cotton that sometimes goes a bit rough, if you stick to egyptian cotton it should just improve with more washes. I fear there is nothing you can do. Good egyptian cotton is usually twice the price of a mix of cotton and polyester, did you pay more for them? In the U.K. Matalan have just started doing 100% cotton range of sheets, I have bought some they are fairly cheap, so I am wondering how they are going to go when I wash them I will let you know.
20. I would not swap my 300 year old house in France for any new build, yes they are a money pit, but I have a massive wonderful farmhouse kitchen that is wonderfully cool in the summer and warm in the winter because the heat cannot escape through the metre thick walls, everything we do, I know I am preserving a piece of history for future generations, we had the bread oven restored and everybody in the village was thrilled, they said if french people had bought it they would have knocked it down, they tell us stories of how all the bread for the village was cooked in my house,I look at it in the summer when we sit out and wonder at how they built it.At the end of the day its what it does for you, I have a real love affair with the house.Incidently I have a 500 year old house in the U.K which is half timbered, also a money pit but its a central focal point of our village, its not a patch on our stone farmhouse in France it is freezing in winter, we have to have the heating on 24 hours a day,I would give anything to have our stone farmhouse here.I think new builds serve a purpose but the history of a property does it for me,I hope I have preserved a little bit of french history for future generations to enjoy.
21. I am just disillusioned,I am going to have a break from posting otherwise I can see I will get the hump, I really meant no offence by anything, have come to the conclusion am not intelligent enough to keep to all the rules and only really wanted to know the outcome of Miki,s situation, I have probably missed it on a thread somewhere. Thanks for being patient with me folks.
22. Why is it to late for an apology now Twinkle and would he have to apologise to the moderators or James, do you only have a certain amount of time to apologise.
23. Thanks Dick for the advice, I could slip up, am not the sharpest pencil in the box and cannot spell either, but I forgot to say its interesting how many views this post has got, I do think he is missed.
24. I  really did not think he would be banned for ever, I thought you just got a sentence unless it was really bad.So now we have to try and persuade him to appologize,I know we don,t know exactly what he has done but whatever it is,and if he does not know exactly what it is he might as well appologize anyway, whats a couple of sentences in your life, its just being a bit two faced for once , some people behave like that all the time.We know his true caracter, gosh I have been reading his posts for a couple of years.A young friend of mine who is 35 years old is dying of cancer and she has a two year old,it makes Miki,s ban seem so daft.Miki if you are peeping, just appologize and we will have a party on the lighter side,I will provide the red stuff and KKK might like to be the caberet.Just Do it Miki.
25. I thought Miki was only banned for a month is he banned for ever?
