Hubby + car to airport, leave car, go to UK and drive back with mate, pick up car from airport with mate+ unload furniture, thank mate profusely then drop him at airport, flight paid for, he can pick up his car from UK airport, dropped off previously en-route to france with your hubby. Three days all told, all happy and mate back with few bottles of wine, sorted, Hugh.
  5. Helen, hows about this then, if you dont drive, wait for it........... tell hubby to take the car and leave it at the airport, simple!!!!!! Aha i hear you say , how do we get the car back from airport, could hubby bring a mate back with him and pick up the car then all you need do is buy your mate a ticket home, solved. Apart from that you could always get a taxi ?? best of luck, Hugh.

  10. Hi, all summer i have kept my grass reasonably long to try and retain some moisture in it and now there are large patches with dead grass within. i have tried a moss rake and had to give up after talking incessantly to myself and rambling on about conspiracies etc. Is there an electric or petrol driven machine i can buy/hire to do this job. There are also patches of clover and moss that i want to clear at the same time. I'm sure i have seen something like that in UK for raking out dead grass for collection. Thanks in advance for all your help, hugh.
  11. Hi, does anyone know of dog sitters in the Riberac area of dordogne. My flights were cancelled at weekend due to terrorist activities in London and now need to get back to UK asap, next week is best but my wife is already booked to go back to UK for other reasons. We now need a dog sitter from thurs 17th till Sunday 20th. Any help greatly appreciated, hugh.
  12. Hi, in Riberac. dordogne and its overcast but still warm enough to lie out in. The pool is 24 and cool but refreshing anyway, and i thought we were having it bad [:-))]
  13. Many thanks louise, fingers crossed that it goes ahead, bergerac used to be great but the late flights now make it impossible to fly or travel onwards. I am from Scotland and now have an overnighter in Stanstead or travel to Poitiers or Limoges, 2 hrs + journey. C'est la vie, as they say in France or do they?? Hugh.

  16. People who leave paint on the light switches when they cut in. Motorists who dont indicate Motorists who do but dont turn off People who smoke during or after every course in a restaurant Lots more to rant about but that will do for now, Hugh.
  17. i think that ZZ's reactions were simply human instinct taking over. Everyone reacts , and retaliates in every walk of life, even on this forum by replying to something you dont agree with. There are levels that people tolerate and some they wont tolerate, thats life, but in the heat of the moment things do get out of hand. How often have you caught your finger in the door jamb and swore, or something similar, some people's level of toleration would not accept that but, thats life. Sure, zidane's reaction was way OTT but in the heat of the moment !!!  Remember his penalty earlier that night? then sit back and enjoy the memories of one of the greatest modern day players enjoying his last good memory of the finals. [:(]
  18. Dick, its all in  hand, i gave him the low down last week at a meeting, Hugh. To the poster who mentioned about web sites needing siret no's to be legal, apologies for not taking note of your name, i didn't realise this to be fact and shall have words with web designer asap, thank you, hugh.
  19. Bob, i take it you are infering something here with your post direction. The fact of the matter is the site is being set up for me by a web site manager and is a recent acquisition  to help me find work. The rest of the links and Siret numbers will be on shortly, i'm sure you will be glad to hear, and recent work completed and on going work will be there too, along with attestations from previous clients, whom are very happy to give support and welcomed the opportunity to have their photo taken for publication on our site. The pictures will show us on site working with the customer there too and also the finished project. Next, if you read my posting you will see that i mentioned the UK too, and its possible that i was infering that customers open accounts with merchants there, however i was not. I was talking about customers in France. Not all Artisans are registered for TVA, me personally, i am a micro enterprise just starting off and hoping to step up a regime when i can get enough work, re web site!!! I am sure you must be aware that as a micro i have a ceiling to my earnings and if i buy materials then charge them back then this will be taken into account for my earnings. And to your next 'accusation' , i am a joiner, not a 'gardener' and do not like the inference on your part. I am also registered by the chambre de metiers, here is my siret number please please check it out, i insist  483148961. From this you will see that i do not work on the black and am in fact fully registered. Perhaps you should move from ' your area ' if it is that badly infested with gardeners working on the black And finally, you typed, ' i am a bit puzzled by your postings ' firstly i posted only once so no need for postingS and second, the reason there are two different people with different aliases is because  there are two different people with two different aliases. The secret is that we both own the web site and both offer our services on it, or will do when it is up and running and we both offer our opinions on this forum and as such should not be held suspect by anyone, far less someone who doesn't know us from Adam. No apology necessary, i'm sure you acted in good faith, Hugh.
  20. Alane, i agree with you. There could indeed be several reasons for the cash to go belly up!! To be fair as well i think that a reserve fund should have been in place for this event and the builders should have been warned as soon as this fund was in danger of being breached.  By the same token, the customer is not just binning his builders, which some do, at least he is actively trying to make amends and finding employment for them perhaps by way of apology. Has anyone asked if he has spoken to his builders since the posting to see how things went?? i also noticed that he has made a few postings, nice welcome to the forum. And in answer to Dicks quote, i too am in the building trade and its common practice for customers to pay up front both in France and the UK. Thru experience i have lost money buying materials and not getting paid, this in turn results in asking the customer to either open an account with a builders merchants or paying up front for some material costs and having stage payments from there on, Hugh. To lose time is nothing, to lose your own cash is hard to swalllow.
  21. Hi Monti, what type of fish do you go after? i fish locally, La Jemaye, and have no bother catching Roach, Bream, Zander and Pike with the odd Carp throw into the mix. If you need any help or perhaps instruction then PM me and we can set something up, Hugh.
  22. Ian, have to agree with you although crouch carried England thru stages and should've been given the chance with Rooney up front. The set up for Portugal was diabolical, he should have played a 4-4-2 attacking formation with Lennon to replace the ailing David Beckham. The 4-5-1 tactic was barely suitable for Ecuador and it was obvious, tho Ericcson failed to see that. The Rooney sending off was, in my opinion, brought about by desperation caused thru lack of quality supply to him and frustration at being outflanked by Portuguese. In fact Ericcson should've made the English midfield roll up their sleeves and do some work and supply the strikers with some quality balls, at the same time it would've given Gerrard and Lampard the room to work like they do with their respective clubs. Now, that apart, being a Scot i enjoyed the fact that England are out ( English commentators really cheese me off ) although i do feel for the players individually, i feel that they are a gifted lot and generally honest, no diving, and deserve more success. The time is now for France to blossom and go on to win their place in the final, with my support, hugh.
  23. Ah but they didn't mention if it was an Englishman putting the bet on tho?? Just a man in Inverness, could've been the Loch Ness Monster in disguise, now that i could believe [;-)] And it said that Tony Blair said ; they should support their neighbours' well i did and they were unlucky to draw with England [:P] Anyway, quick round up, bin Beckham and you will beat Ecuador by the odd goal, next could be portugal............... singalong with me, cheerio cheerio cheerio If you want to watch real footie, tonight on tv Argentine v Holland  even resting players it should be a belter.
  24. One major handicap, David Beckham, boy was George Best spot on. You all must have seen his efforts at jumping tonight, lost out at front post for Swedish goal, almost let Larrson in 2 mins later and had a great chance to go over the defender at the back post for Englands second goal, you could'nt get a newspaper under his feet when he jumps. Seriously, if he is left out and some of the new younger talent like lennon is brought in then they will have a better chance, now that i've got that off my chest i hope Ecuador turn them over in next round. Am i just being biased????? hugh.
