  1. Jesus nuts….and you have French nationality. 😂 The test is not that stringent then 😀
  2. You hit the nail on the head. Why do the French insist on eating breakfast with no plates. Its fecíking dumb. You have to hover up afterwards. You have to hover up everywhere. Hard baguette crumbs go everywhere. Plate = no hovering. It is that simple. My Oh eats breakfast without a plate. It does my head in. Its stupid….for the sake of a blòody plate. Right hand priorities and eating breakfast without a plate is just…..plain stupid. There is no logic. I wonder if they eat breakfast in South Kensington without a plate. Lol.
  3. To be fair, the French love the Scottish and Scotland. When we went to Scotland a month or so back I would say the French represented the largest number of foreign tourists. Why Ryanair has cut the Poitiers Edinburgh route is beyond me. But they also love the UK in general. Only French politicians don’t like the UK. Half of the people around here speek some level of English. And they want to speak English as well. Which is cool. Everyone seems to have a relative working or living to the UK.
  4. I don’t think this question has been asked on French forums before 🤔 The things that bug me the most at the moment. 1) Right hand priority….I reckon it should be left hand priority. Or maybe have both at the same time to spice life up a bit. You can’t have one without the other. It racist against ambidextrous trans who have no arms. 2) Lorries that indicate left at a roundabout but they want to go straight on. Or people in general that just can’t be arsẽd to indicate at all. You just have to guess where they are going. 3) The new woman on TF1 lunchtime news. She does my head in. 4) French Schooling….it is crãp and dangerous. 5) I wanted to say Napoleon…but he is from Italien decency and was born in Corsica. Not sure where the French bit comes from. Bit like Johney Halliday. And you ?
  5. I’m glad I am still box office on forums.😀 Del boy used to call Rodney a muppet. Muppet is an affectionate London term. I call me kids muppets all the time. Look, I can post pictures. The two at the front remind me of……ummmm
  6. I have never seen proper gamon steak in France. It that the one you soak before cooking? Served with swede ? yum yum.
  7. They are still going for it on my thread. Down with down to the UK. Clearly they don’t have kids in a French school. Read the French news muppets.
  8. Do you reckon Mr Macron owns a place in London ? I reckon he does…he is loaded. I bet he has a spanking pad in London. He does his stuff in France and then hops it back to the UK get proper grub and a pint. Anyway, that this not the point of this post. Anyone following closely will know that France is in political meltdown. Only Attal and Darmanin are holding this country together. I would vote for either of them in the next presidential election.
  9. No…TBH. Northern Ireland maybe. I don’t want to live again in a country/place where I don’t belong. So in my case (if I won the Loto)…I would seriously consider London. That is where I am from originally and have always felt at home there. South Kensington is owned by the French so OH would be happy. BTW….in a forum not so far far away in the galaxy….they have stolen this thread. Think up some of your own threads muppets. Lol.
  10. Hmmm…yes… Saying some ones kids are ‘special’ is basically saying they are a ‘pain the arsé. Lol
  11. On reflection….I think I will just move to the Cher 🙃 Buy a Mercedes convertible and eat pasta everyday. I drive through the Cher a lot and it is so fulfilling.
  12. Years ago I once said at the family in laws breakfast table that I was ‘on my period’. I got quickly corrected by OH. Lol. I can’t remember what I said or what I was trying to say. But what I did say in perfect French (apparently) was that I was on my period.
  13. 67 k ? Migrants get picked up at sea, put in a hotel, and given pocket money….and I need 67k…..+ buy a house….to live in the country I was born in. U mmm……hello….feckìing idiot government !
  14. Hi ya Rose You sound like me…whoever you are. 2007 was well before my time on forums. Threads don’t change though in all this time.
  15. I remember a year or so back meeting a couple on the BF boat who told me they got their CdS in France by pretending they had a main residence….which was actually their mates gite in Brittany. They provided other documentation to support their application such as a French mobile contract they took out at said residence. They do not live in France…pay tax in France just like going to France for a jolly at French tax payers expense…..with their CDS in hand. Moreover, one of them was a recently elected politician in the green party in the UK. Sometimes you can’t make life up. That is a true story folks. Anyway, I can’t find out how an French anglo family can ‘retire’ to the UK. I have been through all the websites but can’t find an answer.
  16. That is a very good point…but in the good old days of the EU you did not need French nationality. But when I moved in the 90’s…you did need to have a CDS to exist. Which were a longer bigger in size Norman…lol. That was fair enough. I don’t want or need French nationality. I’m not French, will never be and we are all happy to coexist on that level. I have a CdS. If I break the law then withdraw it and send me packing. I’m happy with that. How do the thousands of French exist in the UK ? They all don’t have British nationality.
  17. And that is the point. Those of us who have got mixed up in this shît are left in limbo. We pay our taxes, pay our way, don’t break the law, live out our lives peacefully and integrate in society. We get left out in the cold. We can’t move anywhere. It makes me soo mad.
  18. We can start here… https://www.vie-publique.fr/loi/287993-projet-de-loi-immigration-integration-asile-2023 That is not directed at British folk on a gîte wannabe. But it applies to them.
  19. You make valid points. The first one there are still those looking to move to France and wot not. Even with young kids. You see that on other forums, so Brexit has not really changed that much. How they do that with visas…I have no idea. Your second point is really good. I have read the articles as well. But France is very much the same or wants to be the same. Except that it is directed to ‘certain’ countries. Whereas the UK does not discriminate. It effects everyone from all countries. Which is is wrong IMHO. I can’t move (as I see it) to the UK with a bilingual French wife and two French/British kids. But the British can quite easily move to France. It because certain peeps fron certain countries take advantage. You know what I mean. I don’t have seven wives. Just one. Lol.
  20. Why not the UK ? There is nothing wrong with the UK ? It is a fantastic country. Why do peeps who have moved to France don’t want to live in the UK ? Or spend their time on forums (not you or anyone else on this forum btw) criticizing the UK. I am betting most would choose to live in the UK rather than most places in France. Why is that me wonders ? These people live in France but never ventured out of their rural village. That is NOT reality France. They know nothing about France but for them France is better than the UK. What they are saying is their bubble in France is better than would they could achieve in the UK. It is nothing to with France as a country. But that bubble won’t last forever. I can live anywhere in France. Rural, suburban, estate, city and have done. It does not bother me. These muppets couldn’t. That is my rant over for the day…lol.
  21. Was Brexit a disaster ? https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/05/brexit-disaster-rejoining-channel-europe-economy It is a disaster for us and other Europeans….as we can’t move to the UK. Like everyone wants to do. But apart from that…..I have to say it was not. The EU is in meltdown. Your thoughts SVP.
  22. I don’t think that those moving to France ever have a plan for when time runs out. Im considering all this at 50. You are right, you have to make the decision when you are still able to. I don’t want people to have the stress to make it for me. Is moving to France worth the hassle in the first place ? Hmmm ? It is a no for me.
  23. I was 26 years old. I met French OH at 22. Lordy lord times flies.
