  1. We had a 30m section of of garden next to a small path. It had a thorny hedge entangled with the ubiquitous metal/concrete posts and mesh in the region (dordogneshire). A pain to maintain. We removed the thorny hedge and tried to make it more attractive by planting clematis to climb up the fence. So far a failure. Currently trying honeysuckle with the occasional hibiscus which so far is doing ok. Not really too interested in fast or semi-fast hedges as they need too much maintenance. So, I personally would suggest a chain fence with various shrubs to your taste at intervals. NB Photinia does look attractive.
  2. Specifically for pet travel this may be your best source of information. https://www.rcvs.org.uk/news-and-views/policy/brexit/ ATM its just a simple check that paperwork is OK. Hopefully it will be similar if Brexit happens. RCVS will be a good place to check what needs to be done in terms of this paperwork. Most hassle will probably be around lorries, but for passenger transport eg cars etc then it hopefully will not require too much extra infrastructure except more booths and obviously staff. I am firmly in your "others" camp in terms of it ever happening.
  3. ALBF - were you originally referring to the Aude based company run by Brits as in Normans post?
  4. Dont know specifically for France but for the NHS it used to be that records of all descriptions should not be kept for more than 30 years - seems that for images its now 5 years and varies depending on what the records are. For films of broken bones etc that are healed then there seems little point in keeping them. Iduns idea of contacting a local hospital is very sensible. Film recycling involves silver recovery and so if they still have a disposal contract they could make a little money from them. Otherwise why not stick them on a wall. Film/screen technology is now pretty much, if not totally, replaced with digital technology and so the issue with film will eventually disappear.
  5. question stands wb. Seems simple to me. where do you stand on the question if you insist? Will have to go back to page 1 now.
  6. wb didn't ask you to interject. question to cathar tours person stands It is very much a french matter as well as other countries. All races are equal..
  7. WB: both France and the UK are very much the reason for the initial problems in the middle east and massively involved with the consequences i.e. refugees over here but deaths over there.
  8. I'm sure he/she did. I therefore asked the question if he/she thinks that jews are gods chosen people. No problem for me as its saying that most human beings on this planet are not chosen by god which IMHO is ridiculous.
  9. Cathar tours - are you paid by Israel??? Is my problem that I support the right of the Palestinians??? I thought that it was antisemitic to suggest that Jews are gods chosen people.
  10. Cathar tours : Interesting comment in hebrew!!! Yes, god gave the right to live if there was a god , but surely not to take the land of god-loving other people.
  11. Fittersmate - perhaps so. The mature walnut tree in front of our french house was half cut down during a storm. Pretty heavy bough!!! The plot next to our house certainly has overgrown walnut trees but overall the area has very well maintained and productive walnut trees. I always marvel that we can walk along near our house and there is an abundance of nuts just lying on the ground and in the supermarket in the UK a tiny pack cost lots. NB we are abt 5 kms from part of the Route de la Noix in the Perigord. I understand that some farmers will not claim their land is commercial so as to avoid paying legally required taxes.
  12. I remember that you said that you were a teacher and I really cant believe that you would have survived by taking a "light" approach. Certainly not in an inner city school. Please discuss the breaking of the basic rules with them as well. The example cited in my report was very mild compared to recent ones but nevertheless flagrantly against the rules. Perhaps if I say that any child pyschologist will say that limits need to be set will remind you of your training.
  13. You certainly need to discuss all issues with Archand. And I find it not surprising that WB finds his posts acceptable. But, hey, look at the rules - and a light touch should not be acceptable as it encourages more of the same. Any teacher will tell you that!! How come that on a french forum the main conversation for a period of time was "urban", gutter language which seemed to be totally acceptable. WB - ok medical - I didn't wear a white coat for the last 30 ish years but that should make no difference.
  14. You are obviously referring to me. Re your problem with me about hospital appointments - I was fairly robust, but from 38 yrs working in a hospital environment, lots at consultant level (not medical/management) a hospital would not be cut off by protesters. Contrary to popular belief if you cant get there then neither can the staff.
  15. OK then, WB do you think your post on this thread leading to my report was within the rules and justified on an open forum?? Remember "happy new year" is not a subject that gets many people angry under the collar. Notice queenie gets her little dig in. NB WB - have been on this forum long before you appeared so please dont go the old timers route - already been through the "who are you" route. All this should not be dealt with on the open forum - period. All she had to do was delete your post to show that it was against the rules - now it has become yet another mud slinging contest.
  16. Well, well - assertions about Quillan not having access totally wrong - plainly Hoddy is not on top of things. And yes, people on here should re-read the forum rules including WB with his idiotic name-calling and digs. I accept that I have fallen into the same behaviour - it needs to be stamped out - period. Hoddy - is Quillan right when he says that you pay no attention? NB - I reported WBs post because I really did not want to get involved in another slanging match - surely that should be the best approach and moderators then do their job.
  17. Basil Brush - the common one. Boom boom.
  18. The first vitriol on this thread came from queenie and was reponded to. Likewise on other threads recently she has used her acidic tongue and banal comments ad nauseam. For goodness sake, who else would post on a thread that she cannot add anything because she doesn't know about the topic. This forum is where it currently deserves to be. It welcomes back venomous queenie Jill of Google and her jester ALBF to satisfy her old, "I'm all Right" subjects who reject any new comment and lap up her corrosiveness. Gardian - look elsewhere for bullies. Perhaps Archant should review its aims: Hoddy plainly cannot cope.
  19. Tiresome but: do you mean that may BnB be unevenly distributed with chips and will then be less balanced than in 2018? "any definition of irony—though hundreds might be given, and very few of them would be accepted—must include this, that the surface meaning and the underlying meaning of what is said are not the same." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony. Can you also please stop being negative against others when I do not post for a few days, if you have not noticed, Same goes for one or two others.
  20. queenie Jill of Google: Well, given that BnB has probably made more positive contributions in the last year, then that is rather pathetic.
