1. Hopefully he will remain unemployed as he would be a liability for anyone daft enough to take him on. I utterly detest him.
2. Paint is the usual item we carry back from the UK. We have a big place and I simply hate having to pay what the French want for it. Other than that, it's just odds and sods really.
3. Greenfinches. I've never seen a more squabble-some bird. We had 16 at a time this winter so had to put out extra feed for the usual residents.
4. Be careful with SAGA. I found to my surprise 4 years ago that they no longer give all year round protection, at least on the fully comp' policy that I had with them for a few years. I only noticed that when I read the small print. 3rd party cover is still OK as previously stated.
5.

It must have been very windy somewhere because, for the first time in over 300 Eurotunnel crossings, I saw a queue of HGV's backed up along the motorway and along the slip road at the Calais tunnel terminal. When we left the Mayenne, it was calm. Eventually the sun rose and it was lovely. As we neared Pas de Calais it threw it down. However, once in Folkestone it was sunny. It stayed that way until we arrived in Cheshire. All in all, a nice trouble free trip.
When did you come through? We came through the tunnel this morning (arrived at the check-in at 10:15) and didn't see a tailback on the slip road. A couple of the ferry operators had delays today. The rain waited until we were just walking out of Carrefour Cité Europe before the heavens opened. We had driven up to Calais over the last couple of days, dealing with the sidewinds (we had extra wind-catching area because of the roofbox and shelving on the roofrack and back box on the tow hitch) and occasional drenchings.
Hi Pickles. On Tuesday around 11.00.
6. I could sound cruel, but how ironic would it be if he became ill with something that was just below the current criteria for free treatment. Yeh, I know, I'm cynical.

8. 2017 is the set date, although there is to be a review next year to make sure motorists have the right to appeal in the case of mistakes, etc.
9.

There is also a Chinese restaurant run by genuine mainland Chinese from Beijing and that in my experience, having spent time in the far east, is top notch and very pleasant.
Hi I'd love to know where this is? Thanks
No problem. The Chinese I frequent is just off the roundabout at Hyper U. As you exit the Hyper U roundabout it's between the exit for Laval and the exit towards Bricomarche. It is called 'Palais Du Bonheur'. The other Chinese in Mayenne is not a genuine Chinese. I think they are Vietnamese, although it hasn't appeared to be open recently. Hope that helps. Les.
10. We must be spoiled in the Mayenne area where we live as we have no less than 3 restaurants with Michelin starred chefs. One chef even has 2 stars, clever chap. There is also a Chinese restaurant run by genuine mainland Chinese from Beijing and that in my experience, having spent time in the far east, is top notch and very pleasant. Then, there is the famous, amongst the Brits around here at least, routiere in Chantrigne. Second to none! Maybe folk should simply boycott the places that don't live up to genuine restaurant cuisine.
11. I've had 5 Jag XJ's to date, all very comfy, even the 3 supercharged XJR's were very nice. We also currently have a Volvo V70, that too is comfy. However, my vote goes to my own new toy, a Bentley. My good lady calls it the quickest leather lounge you can buy. It even has massaging seats! As for French cars, I was always of the impression that they had softer suspension than other makes. The most firm ride is probably the German marques.
12. On the subject of Screwfix. They deliver to France for free if you spend £100 or more. I know where my loyalties lie and it's not with some of these French rip off merchants. Here's an example I had from yesterday. Tube of decorators Caulk. Bricomarche 4.90 euros. The same make in B&Q £1. Unbelievable!
13. Gluestick. You forgot the very long model railway track programme. He even ran his own Hornby model of the Flying Scotsman loco along it. As a fan of steam loco's myself, he gets my vote!
14. JC has had a job offer from the Russian version of the show just today. Not sure it's a place I would like to work. My bet is ITV and hopefully, not Sky!
15. I wonder why they didn't sack Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand? Anyway, it's off to another TV channel for the 3 TG presenters I presume.
16. I'm not too sure he should be doing that at his age but he can certainly handle that machine.
17. I have a Tutelle for my disabled daughter which gives me power of attorney over her finances, etc. I presume a person under Tutelle would not be able to make an informed decision, so the person with the Tutelle would perhaps have to speak to the Judge before a decision could be made regarding property.
18. So long as at least one of the Vanguard class Subs are patrolling, Putin would be a fool to attack Europe. The deterrent is there for a reason.
19. I have just worked out that with the fall in fuel prices and the rise in the exchange rate, the cost of 2000 litres of heating oil is now 415 Euro's cheaper than when I filled the tank in October. Now that's a big difference.
20. Well, it's still on the rise. Currently at 1.375 to the £

Work

Chinese proverb for you. If your job is your hobby, you don't have to work. Not sure what I think about it any more as I am on my third and hopefully, last retirement.
22. Haha. No, I managed that when I fell through the roof in a different part of the house.
23. Thanks again. Well, this is what I found above the plaster in my daughters room. I was surprised as I thought all junction boxes had to be accessible. Apart from ripping the ceiling down, you would never know it was there. How odd.
24. Thanks Theiere. Just tried that from Photobucket but although the picture shows in the preview, when I posted it, it only showed the text and no photo. So I deleted the post. I tried Direct, HTML and IMG but non worked. Any other suggestions please. Les.
