When I was a lad back in the 70s and 80s, my dad would have radio 2 on all day on a Sunday. Am I right in thinking David Jacobs was on then? I remember things like Sing Something Simple and the like.

A good day for Parliamentary democracy

This is a clear sign of weakness. He was all for going in last week, and as soon as other countries have not, he is now dithering. Sooner this man is no longer president, the better. -

Another sign of Obama weakness. Having to go to congress to ask permission to strike. First president to do so in countless years. Either do it or don't. -

I actually have several gmail accounts. I have my main one I use for proper stuff, then another for joining up to forums, internet offers etc, and then a student account, and two accounts I use for other things. I connect to them all using Outlook, and also on my phone. Works seamlessly.
Nice to hear it works seamlessly. I only have one gmail account and it hardly works. Drives me potty to be honest, trouble is that it is the email address for using this forum or I'd dump it.
Why don't you change your email address on this forum then and not use your gmail anymore?

I don't think the US is doing anything that different to what the European countries were doing 100 years ago in their imperial quests across the globe. Find it somewhat ironic as these imperial conquests are what made Britain "great", and made so many so proud to be a part of. Remember the sun doesn't set on the British Empire? In fact, when the US does go in, they don't take sovereignty over those countries like the British and Europeans did, but allow them to continue ruling themselves. For what it's worth, I don't believe the US should enter this civil war. Let the Syrians get on with it if they want to kill each other. As already mentioned, the US is running out of money again thanks to this administration, it simply cannot afford to get into this. I also agree if any intervention is going to happen, the UN needs to be involved. How effective that will be is anyone's guess. -

Bush was the right man at the time for what happened in 9/11.
I couldn't agree less. His actions exacerbated the problems associated with and following 9/11. They may have played well within the Union but they made the rest of the world a more hazardous place.
He was protecting his country. Which is his primary function. He lad the way to eliminating Bin Laden. He also eliminated the threat of Saddam Hussein. What do you think the US was going to do? Sit back and do nothing? I think that's why the rest of the world is happy Obama is in because it makes the USA weaker. -

I thought it was Obama who incorrectly said France was its closest ally. No one really cares though, it's just diplomatic talk and changes nothing. -

I think Bush gets a rough ride. He said a lot of dumb things, but I've heard a lot of dumb things Obama has said too. Bush was the right man at the time for what happened in 9/11. Obama isn't a strong military leader and would have been left floundering in comparison. Which is one reason the US shouldn't go into Syria now. A bit like Churchill back in WW2, great when the chips are down, and for fighting a war, but not so in more peaceful times. I don't particularly think Obama is a great president on the whole to be honest, but I really think it will take something special to change things over here now. -
What ever one's view over Syria I feel that last night's refusal by Parliament to rubber-stamp a Prime Minister's plans shows the UK system at its best. I wonder if the French or American Presidents could be held to account so effectively?
I think so. There's been talk of impeaching Obama for last years debacle in Benghazi amongst other things. Trouble is the fear of Biden taking over is too great to go through with it. There's supposed to be a three way balance of power between the executive branch, legislative branch and judicial branch so that noone is in complete power, so yes, the American president can be held to account effectively. -

Wow. Wasn't there an article somewhere that you don't actually start being able to keep the money that you earn until around July in France? Everything you earn before then just gets taken by the government. I feel that's just ridiculous. -
No problems my end. I'm permanently logged in, but I did notice the lack of new posts throughout the day. Just assumed it was a nice day over there.

Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer had me in stitches at times...

Having said that, I work every Saturday, so I'll have to get them to put the tv on for me. But it means guaranteed extra streams for every game for everyone else too.

I'm quite looking forward to the new season. In America, they are showing every single game live on NBC. No more streaming games over the internet for me :)
