  1. I really don't want to put you off - and hope you HAVE won the lottery in order to support yourself and pay for health Insurance, etc. If you HAVE won the lottery fine, but otherwise, I hope you've worked out how to support yourself and your little family.  Bonne chance. I'd say priority number one is to work out your health insurance. The kids will adapt very quickly at their age- from that point of view, perfect timing. How good is your and your OH's French?
  2. Fabulous news. Please please please get them all neutered, please.
  3. YEP!    Thanks for the link Gemonimo. Off to the Swiss Alps this week, to a place called Loèche-les-bains, a spa/ski resort. No more holidays planned for a while then!
  4. Merky bucket Pierre.  I wouldn't mind a Harley! I'll add another  'k' and I'll get some plants.
  5. Hmmm not quite - guess what ? It's snowing again.
  6. Le mien non plus - ses jambes sont beaucoup plus longues que les miennes!
  7. Thanks all- will look them up. Merci.
  8. Can anybody recommend any good gardening/plant catalogues in France? Merci. Plants here in Switzerland are ridiculously expensive, so as I live very close to the border, could get them delivered to a friend in France.
  9. Yeah but yeah - with your derrière pointing in the nurse's direction, wouldn't said appendage be t'other side, as it were, OOOOOOps, sorry.
  10. Well your dear President was in the area yesterday, and he was in somber mood apparently - definitely grumpy. Maybe it was the artic 'bise noire'.
  11. If you drive through the Jura - pop in to say hello. Hasta la vista.
  13. Sadly, somehow, Piplusone seems to have given up on us. Bonne chance and hope you come back to talk to us. xx
  14. You mean CHfr! But OH's pension is paid in £ (and so will mine when I get it) - and so are our savings! A high ChFr is not helping much at the mo! When we decided to buy our house here, the £ was 2.40 and now it is 1.62. We also had to take a 23% drop to sell our house in UK. Not complaining ... but! CH = Confédération Helvétique = Switzerland
  15. People used to buy one and share- so the Swiss gvt made the stickers almost impossible to take off. I wish you good luck - tell us how you got on. If you wish, I'll phone the local equivalent of the DVLA, the Service des autos, and ask them. PS  I've just looked at it on the official website. If you have to replace the windscreen, you need to keep the damaged vignette AND the bill for the replacement - and the vignette will be exchanged for free when you next get to Swiss Customs.
  16. If you want good advice on what to do, just ask us what WE do - and do exactly the opposite. Guaranteed to work.
  17. Yes, courage et bonne chance!   But talk about thread drift! From Harriet to your bum!
  18. Thanks RH. I understand- it would be helpful though if the IT dept. would communicate and explain. But thanks for getting back.
  19. Sheer and unnecessary cruelty- and they call themselves animal lovers. These pictures are horrible and not funny at all. give me rude ones any day.
  20. Yes sue, good news. But wouldn't it be nice to have a reply from the official support, with some explanation of what it might have been all about? Please.
  21. Piplusone  POST 1   - what a helpful welcome. I am so sorry you have a real problem on your hands- and I so hope the Maire will help you. I am also sorry that your first post, with a genuine request for help- gets the sort of response above. Hope you do stay with us and get to know the many here who are really friendly and helpful. Bonne chance   Swissie.
  22. Hope you get to go with her - dai dai xx
  23. We had a huge 1920s cast iron bath in the UK and we had it re-enamelled professionally twice by a firm called The Bath Doctor - they had to use 2 packs - as they did it everyday, I think they got much better results than we would have achieved. Lasted about 12 years each time.
