Coco
My parent have just shocked and stunned us both by coming back from Normandy this weekend to tell us that they have bought a house about 7 miles from ours and that tomorrow they intend to put theirs in the UK on the market and move lock, stock and barrel! They have the cash to buy the house in France and once they sell their 4 bed detached bungalow in the SE of England they will have (as you can imagine) rather a lot of money to stick in the bank. My question is: now that they intend to live in France permanently, inheritance tax will kick in at about 33,000 rather than 250,000 If they set up a company in Jersey or Guernsey, of which the 4 of us are directors, could we avoid paying so much inheritance tax when it is finally left to us? DOes anyone have any views, or know of a better idea?Coco
gburrows
You seem to be counting chickens before they hatch. What would you do if they stayed in England and left all their money to the local dog and cat home?
Teamedup
I think that you need to check this out thoroughly, by several legal experts. Also make sure all of this is done before they sign anything.I would like to think that this will work for them, but french law is only 'funny' where these things are concerned. ckenway
Unless there are any qualified people here to answer this I would STRONGLY suggest you get professional help. There are several companies advertising in this magazine and FPN who are based both in the UK and France who can help them. It is a very specialised field and touches many things, pensions etc, and every person is unique in there affairs and what they want.Chris
Julie_and_Dick
LAST EDITED ON 26-Jun-03 AT 12:21 PM (GMT)One look at this website shows that Freddy is right - it's a scam, or at least a way of parting the gullible (those who watch lifestyle tv?) from their cash. And as noted elsewhere - is this post a shill from a family member publicising the site and 'service'?(Also - the spelling in the original email is atrocious which somehow makes me suspicious, don't know why.)
