100% ALD

Simply having an illness classfied as an ALD, as everyone else is saying, is not a reason to tell the tax man.

However, there could be an accompanying scenario whereby you should tell the tax man.  [:D]

If the ALD is sufficiently disabling (for want of a better expression) and your OH qualifies for a French carte d'invalidité then you need to declare it on your next annual tax return as you will then get extra allowances against tax payable.

Not such a daft question after all.  [:D]

Thanks Benjamin.  Just wasn't sure what we should or shouldn't let the tax office know about.  Should we let them know that OH is in receipt of incapacity benefit?

Its nice to get people like you and SD, who have the patience to explain in layman's terms and do not snap the heads off of lesser mortals like me.

No need as you will declare it when you make your tax return. If your OH has been receiving Incapacity Benefit since before,I think, 1995 and it is paid without deduction of UK tax you must still declare it here as it is taxable in France.
