woody234
I am thinking of applying for a loan with credit agricole to pay of the rest of my credit agricole mortgage and would borrow 8000 euros over 90 months so monthly payments would be about 100 euros a month, ive been on the website calculator to get these figures ,ive paid 80% of the mortgage so far, has anyone done this type of thing before
woolybanana
Given that interest rates on mortgages are very low indeed at the moment in France, it might pay you to remortgage with another company if CA wont agree to do it. It could reduce your payments by quite a bit.You can get an agent, called a courtier d'assurances, to sort this for you.Loadsa French people doing this at present. NormanH
This was mentioned on France 2 Info last night.I have found Crédit Agricole in my Region (Languedoc) to be very unwilling to let me repay a loan with another at a lower rate.As wooly says, you could go to a courtierOn the other hand the general advice on the Infos was that it is only worthwhile if you still owe a substantial part of the mortgage, as there will be fees involved in setting up another one which could outweigh the benefits of a lower rate if the sum isn't that big.I am no financial expert (Do the opposite of what I do is the best advice I could give) but that is what was being said. jasjasika
Bank loans areextremely difficult to obtain and they are usually only given tobusinesses with outstanding credit and a proven track record. If localbanks have determined you don't meet the five C's criteria or if theycan't provide enough financing, there are probably non-bank sources inour directory who can. Due to the large number of non-bank lenders,it can seem like a daunting task to have to search through them andfind the right one. Post edited by moderator.
