Lesw Sable d@Olonne

Recommended Posts

There is a possibility that we may be spending 4 months just north of Les Sable d'Olonne, we are looking for information re shopping, super/hypermarkets, markets etc within easy reach, also what to see and do whilst in the area.

We will be working, not on one long holiday but the nature of the position means we will have a fair amount of free time.

Thanks in advance.

We haven't visited Les Sables for some years but I believe there is a nice big 'hypermarket' just to the south of the town. Certainly the places we visited had regular markets, Jard, La Tranche, Longeville.....and I think there is a covered market in Les Sables too.

We liked the area very much (went back 5 times !) Have fun !!

Lucky you!  What a great place to be spending 4 months!

There are plenty of super/hypermarkets in the area: a huge Leclerc on the north side of town, and a large Géant on the SE side, for starters. A brand new HyperU at Olonne-sur-Mer (perversely, that village is a bit inland from Les Sables).

Les Sables itself has the most beautiful market - daily (maybe not Mon in winter), until 12 noon.  It's in the centre, right next to the main church (Notre-Dame du Bon Port), in a lovely 19thC brick-and-glass market-hall.  There's another good market in the town (Marché Arago, near the cemetery) which is less picturesque but equally good quality.

Have sent you an email, as well.

Regards
