Bob W.
I am looking for recommendations for a place to get a good evening meal and stay 1 night off the A26 roughly between St Omer and Arras (eg 1 hour from Calais).I would like to find somewhere nice as it would be a regular stopover requirement. Thanks,Bob W. Will
I have stayed, and eaten, on several occasions at Chateau Tilques (www.chateautilques.com)
sueyh
If you want reasonably priced why not try the IBIS chain, Holiday Inn or best western in Arras - there are loads of restaurants to eat in in Arras. Suey
Loiseau
Le Buffet at Isbergues (about 5km SE of Aire-sur-la-Lys) is a restaurant-with-rooms, with heavenly food served in smart conservatory, and simple rooms upstairs (though maybe about to be renovated. Here is a link.A friendly B&B, that does excellent and convivial evening meals (on prior reservation) is "Les Cohettes" at Auchy-au-Bois. Here is a link. It is about 8km south of Aire.I have never stayed in Arras, though it's a lovely town and there are several much-recommended hotels. I have eaten at La Coupole d'Arras, near the station. It was excellent, though watch your eyebrows - they are very keen on flambee-ed dishes!(I heartily DISrecommend the Tourterelles hotel at Noeux-les-Mines, by the way.)Angela
