 hi Cathy ,the barn is 12.2m Lx 5.4m w its got an ok roof  and it is build of some volcanic and some honey colored stone ,its on a 2 acre plot which is pretty flat but say on a 1degree tilt , we have owed it 2 yrs nearly but we have had trouble with planning as we used a uk guy who did not know the french system so it was thrown out ,no we dont have any builders lined up ,im a plumber -htg guy myself so i can do a bit , we have just had a baby so we cant do tooo much ,but we cleared out the barn ,it was full of hay and it took all day [:)] ,the barn is in a little hamlet of about 7 houses so its a good spot

Sounds idyliic.  But with a brand new baby, don't expect to get much done for a couple of years...  (I speak as a mother of -nearly - a cricket team of children).

I would say that a 1 degree tilt is flat.  Isn't the planet Earth tilted by that much anyway?

Quite the hardest thing about barn conversions in France (apart from planning and getting artisans)  is the fosse septique.  There's been loads written about this on the Forum so you could do a search.

cathy you need to work on your angle !!! forgot to say we have baby 2 due in sep im a plumber /htg guy in uk and i know a bit about fosses , if a fosse is more than a few  yrs old it wont comly with the spanc so in some ways its best if there isnt 1 there at all ,a few poeple are doing mwwt plants but i dont think they are legal in france yet ,we only have water at the barn , we did have temp elec but the took down the overhead cables as we are now in a zone naturale ?

as my ole' granny used to say to my sis, lift a cheek and aim for the side girl, course in those days it wasn't a bucket it was a guzunder, probably all tinder boxes by the fireplace, or trendy flower pots on the kitchen window sill now, if only they could speak about the promised lands they'd seen!
