Dorset has turned yellow !

 The southern counties of the UK are looking yellow at the moment as thousands of acres have been planted out with oil seed rape . more than I have ever seen in the past...Even the cars sitting on drives are covered in pollen and are yellow ..... It seems bio diesel from rape seed chucks out more emissions than fosssel fuels so lets hope its all going into the chip pans instead of cars  this year ...  it looks pretty though

Yes, same in the Charente in France and I seem to have an aleergic reaction to it! Acres are planted up with the stuff.

An example of how the World has gone crackers. Grow crops for fuel use to save the planet,then import via planes/ships and lorries the food for the population to eat. I expect somewhere in the small print there is some financial benefit via VAT or something. A bit like the poppy fields in Afghanistan etc.etc.

I'd ban it, its horrid stuff that actually burns your throat if you drive past it when its sunny and it causes lots of hay fever type reactions.....:-( :-(

Met a couple in Bellac a couple of weeks ago. They were from Queensland on a 5 week trip through France. They asked what earthly use we had for that smelly yellow plant. They found it really unpleasant

If more of it is being planted it means that it is attracting a bigger EC subsidy than any other crop.
