If one should lose a case of litigation in a UK court, could you avoid paying costs if you were living in France? I always understood that if it was a civil matter, you could not be made to pay such costs if you were outside the UK. I don't think the baliffs would cross La Manche anyway! Anton Redman Posted November 7, 2004 Share Posted November 7, 2004 Spherical objects – French commercial courts do not award costs but the Hussars/Baliffs will collect overseas judgements and will cease sufficient goods to get the money and cover their costs.
