Iceberg lettuce

Why am I having difficulty finding Iceberg lettuce ?.

During the summer salad season  it's nice to have a choice of

different lettuce. I can find the red frilly leaved, the two-tone red

and green frilly leaved, the green frilly leaved, the two-tone yellow

and green, the little red ones, the little heart ones (packed in sets

from Spain !!) and the floppy green lettuce where you waste half the

outside leaves just to find the nicer centre leaves....but I haven't

yet seen Iceberg lettuce sold individually.

Yes, I know I can buy bags of the chopped up Iceberge lettuce - but I

really don't like buying these - the minute the bags are opened the

lettuce seems to start deteriorating....

Can anyone help - or is it that Iceberg is just not grown in France (or not imported from Spain ?)

Three of the big supermarkets around us have them in stock at the moment, including Leclerc's and Carrefour.

Thanks Miki - nearest large supermarkets like LeClarc are about half-an-hour's drive away for us - bit of a long journey just for a few Icebergs !!! - but at least you've reasurred me that individual Icebergs are available - thank you - I was beginning to wonder whether it was a 'Mission Impossible' thing...!!!!

 We can get Iceberg - but not a Cos to be had [:(]

(You should never cut a letuce, it starts it going off, it should be torn apart, until it gets to the plate)
