Gardener
Assange was doing rather well indeed on the Time Magazine internet voting for Person of the Year, but it was awarded to the facebook founder. I don't think the internet votes counted for much.

Richard51
Never mind the 'TV star', Julian - what about the real hero, Bradley Manning:http://www.armycourtmartialdefense.info/2010/12/typical-day-for-pfc-bradley-manning.htmlMrs R51
pachapapa
Manning was unable to keep a secret, difficult for a young lad, no doubt. The treatment he is getting, largely vindictive, is pretty well what I would expect from a country that indulges in waterboarding and rendition flights. The problem for Assange is to extricate himself from the fangs of states that endorse rendition, torture and imprisonment without due legal process. Certainly the current situation with extradition in Europe without the presentation of any evidence in factual support makes things awkward. If it was me I would head ultimately for Chile or Russia; possibly easier for a lone male individual than a Russian Mother with a Child. But in any event an Assange sojourn in the "Land of the Free" would be likely to be shortlived, pun intended, his assassinaton in the exercise yard would presumably result in Purple Hearts and Congressional Medals for all and sundry.http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503543_162-20026587-503543.html
